buahahahah resurrected.
I'm currently looking at the GT30R (the R stands for dual-ball-bearing I believe).
How did we all like the turbo?

Re: Recieved my Garrett GT30 BB turbo (Arturbo)
Art hows that GT35R spool up for you. What's your compression and how many liters you running? What's your hp and torque numbers? Just got my GT35R and I want to see what kind of performance to expect from it off my setup.

As of right now, its not up and running. but I'll give you a run down to answer your questions. My compression is 9:1 and its on a 1.8L Gsr. I plan on running around 35psi to break stuff..lol

Re: Recieved my Garrett GT30 BB turbo (VaporTrail)
That's a badd *** turbo. Hi-tech ****. The turbine side is made of ductile Ni-Resist iron (has a nickel content of about 38%). This material is much better at withstanding high exhaust gas temperatures than regular cast iron. The turbine wheel is inconnel 713 and is good for up to 1700 degrees farenheit.

Re: Recieved my Garrett GT30 BB turbo (PHiZ)
Ok Guys here's the skinny.
that turbo never made it on to Vaportrail's car. I bought it off him like 3 days later and our deal with the scum bag who we bought them from out of canada fell through.
since that day I have learned ALOT about garrett GT series turbos.
#1 most people have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to these turbos
#2 the turbo that john was sold, and that i subsequently bought off of him was not a regular GT30R. it is a GT30 FAMILY turbo that actually uses the 82mm, 56 trim GT40 compressor wheel (yes same as GT35R and SC61). but mated to the 60mm 84 trim GT30R turbine wheel. it uses CHRA # 700177-0014. this is not an off the shelf turbo from garrett. you have to buy the CHRA then cut housings, or source them from other off the shelf turbo. the turbo in question went on to power my SR powered demonstration vehicle for our shop to a national record for stock block Hp at 539 SAE corrected (which has since been beaten by 6 hp ). at this power level the tiny turbine was choking out.
3# replacing the CHRA is about $1000. dont run cheap manifolds infront of one of these turbos. if your manifold cracks and you suffer FOD to the turbine wheel it is about the same cost for a rebuild as it is for a new CHRA.
