Default rebuilt turbo, oil in charge pipe??

just got my motor running for about 700 miles with the new rebuild turbo and head/block. i took apart the lower U-pipe/charge pipe and noticed little oil residue around the pipes, it dont look like a leak 'cause not enough oil for a leak. anyone know what this is? hrmmm i'm kinda worried too.

sounds like ther might be a little oil coming thru the seals.
clean it all up, put it back on, drive around for a while, check again.

there's no smoke what so ever. exhaust runs clean. i only found out about the oil residue because my charge pipe was loose i guess and fell off while i was driving up hill on 4th gear in the mountains. i didn't run over the pipe or anything 'cause it was still connect at the intercooler.

Mine's doing the exact same thing. No smoke in exhaust, but oil in compressor side.

I have to regularly clean my charge pipes so that it doesn't harm the motor that much.... Anyone know the solution to this?

replace the oil seal on the compressor side.

Alfee - it sounds like it wasn't rebuilt properly or with the correct sized oil control seals. Your turbo shouldn't discharge oil into any of the pipes at any time. period. Call the rebuilder and tell him what's going on - but are you sure that this isn't from your prior condition? I'd imagine you had the turbo rebuilt because it leaked at some point. Correct me if I'm wrong.

well when i had the turbo, it took me roughly one year before i put the turbo kit on and the turbo was sitting capped for a year. when i put my turbo on, it was leaking because i forgot to face the drain straight down, instead i faced it to an angle and didnt realize this before i sent it to cheapturbo. when i got it back, i put it on and it ran good for the 800 miles i was driving it. until my u-pipe fell off on the freeway going up hill and when i got off the road to tighten it back on, i noticed it was slippery and felt some oil residue on it. theres no oil dripping constantly, rather it was just sticky oil along the inside of the pipe and on my rubber connector. no oil is coming out the compressor side though because i have 2 grills sandwiching a panty hose as a filter there. and its not buring oil from the exhaust either. hrmm. i will call ken today and find out what he can do for me since i haven't had time to call'm yet. btw, i'm not running a catch can or breather. i've been doin' research on a catch can too. skool me on this someone!

so where do you have the hose from the valve cover plugged into? your charge piping? if so this is possibly where the oil is coming from at least in your ic pipes, its not like a lot of oil just a small amount, ive read that over time that oil will make its way into your intercooler and over time will build up, even when theres build up its not a lot, like maybe a table spoon, id say as long as oil is spewing from your bov, your probably fine.

the nipple on the valve cover for a breather is just left open, no line or anything is connected to it. i was gonna route a tube from it back to the charge pipe holding the bov but decided not to. any suggestions on what route is best to go? or is this oil that's suppose to be routed to a catch can?

get a catch can, it runs inline between the breater nipple you refer to, and your PCV valve on your block.

ok i talked to ken at cheapturbo and he recommended i use a catch can to see if it solves the problem. if not then i'll send it back to them for a check up on the actual turbo. *keepin' my fingers crossed*
