Default Rebuilding Greddy 18g Turbo... questions, comments.. help

I recently purchashed a used Greddy turbo for my GSR.. Seeing that there has been quite a few miles on it, and i want the MOST reliable kit I can have.. Im interested in rebuilding it. I have a few options - get it rebuilt, run it the way it is, find another 18g, or use my extra T3/T4 and run that. I DO have a friend who works at a turbo shop, and he has offered to rebuild it for me. Although, i do need to come up with the parts for the rebuild. Any suggestions? where can i buy a rebuild kit (good quality) for my turbo? thanks guys

greddy 18g's are easy to rebuild do it yourself, just get the rebuild kit that has new seals and bushings

Personally, I did have mine rebuilt. 18G too. I had it rebuilt at Majestic Turbo out in TX. Excellent turnaround. Ran fine then blew up my motor.

I have had mine rebuilt. I am sure that I got screwed in the price, but has been fine since January. Now that I said it is fine it'll probably blow on me Greddy is made by Mitsubishi so look for authorized dealers of DSM parts.

It appears that im going to go towards a rebuild instead of giving up on the kit. My friend says that he will do it for me.. Now, where can i buy the parts?

Use google, search "turbo rebuild" there are tons of places selling rebuild kits....you can always call turbo city in Van nuys, california, they'll have it for sure. where ever you get the parts, don't rebuild it yourself unless you have the $40,000 balancing machine in your garage. People will say that you can mark everything before you take it apart then re align it after the rebuild but the truth is that's just not good enough at 100,000+ RPM if you are serious about reliability.

Well if you want a shop to rebuild it. It's obviously going to cost more. My rebuild cost me 300 bucks. Came back perfect. Look up Majestic Turbo in TX. Highly recommended by me.

does it have shaft play? in and out side to side? if it doesnt, than you dont need to rebuild it. Mitsu turbos are no pos i tell you that, you take care of em (i.e. turbo time) and they will take care of you.
