I don't know how old that thread is, or if 1BARGSR is still around..but...
This is what you need to do:
- Remove the crankshaft and connecting rods.
- Take them to a machine shop.
- Have the crank and rods inspected.
- You will probably need to "turn" the crank down.
- Buy oversized bearings (if you grind the crank). The machinist
will know what size based on measurements.
I wouldn't recommend using the crank without shaving it. I'm sure it's
all knicked up from starting it without bearings.
It's not so bad, you can recover with little expense. Turning the crank
also reduces rotational mass which will improve acceleration.
