Default RC 440's VS dsm 450's

whats the deal with these two why would u wanna spend $200 on RC 440's when you can get dsm 450's for way cheap?

IM tryin to decide what to use on my
92 hatch
D16Z6 swap
greddy kit
will be using tuned P28 with CHROME

at what point do I need to upgrade the fuel pump to the walbro

Let's see...one option is new with a warranty, the other is old and the condition is unknown

The fact that DSM 450cc injectors need to be cleaned / flow tested first, is one clue. You should always know the condition of the injector as much possible before use. They are also a Low impedence injector (most 440cc Lucas/Rochester, Delphi and Bosch injectors are of a high impedence.) Low impedence injectors require a change in ohms for hondas of newer models (94+ engines) so a resistor box is needed. Most would rather not deal with the trouble of all that for those hp levels and just get the ease of the high impedence injector.

i've liked being able to use my rc 440s on a few diff setups without having to wire a resistor box. might just have to dremel the seals out a tad, and pop em in and good to go.

Ive personally been through 3-4 set of 450's on various setups of my own, and have worked on 25-30 setups using DSM 450's; all in various stages of 'used' condition. I have not witnessed any failures or odd issues.
Considering the going rate for a set of DSM's is $50, I think its a pretty easy decision.
If it makes you feel better, then buy the RC's for 4x the price. Just comes down to personal preference.
IMHO the odds are in your favor.

i use dsm injectors and haven't had a problem. hooking up the resistor box only takes like 10 minutes, its not hard.

Depends on what injectors you use if you go with the DSM injectors then yes other wise you will have to reasearch by what type of injectors you get. My precision 680cc I had to wire a box for them in a 93 hatch w/ a B series engine...

DSM 450's FTW!......well to 300 hp at least. Been through a ton of dsm's and never had a single one fail, whereas ive personaly seen rc 550's at 88% idc seize up. lean a motor out and burned a hole in a piston. But thats just my personal experience. look into precision, delphi, or fuel injector clinic injectors. But for the goin price of dsm's....their hard to beat.

just buy a pump now, it will save time later on i think a 190 will be enough for you

i think 80 dollars from TT

I ran dsms at first, got them for just at 50.00 (cleaned and flowed)... worked great for low boost.

Then agian my car comes with a resistor box already.

With the extra money you save, buy a decent pump too.

i've been running dsm 450's for 3 years now with no issues and have tuned many setups with them...most without issues. I've seen one car that would just dump fuel in because the injectors were stuck or something. He threw in a new set and things were fine.

Hey Jason...

If you are using the turbo supplied with the Greddy kit, the DSM injectors will be sufficient with 10-14psi of boost. Anything beyond that, you will need to rebuild the motor with aftermarket pistons/rods and upgrade the injectors. Yes, you will have to wire up a resistor box for thos DSM injectors because they are low-impedance type. You can pick up any Honda/Acura resistor for that application: 90-93' Integras, 88-91' Civics, 90-97' Accords, etc...
