radiator hose oil return line?
Anyone ever used radiator hose for an oil return line?
I'm thinking there won't be any probs with it since it is designed for high temps, so I picked up a small one today and fitted it on with hose clamps. The car is not ready to be driven yet so I am wondering what you guys think before it goes onto the road.

think about what it is designed for. coolant NOT oil. have you ever seen a rad hose soaked in oil? they tend to get soft and fall apart. Oil rated hose isn't that hard to find at parts stores or you can get stainless covered hose from Flamenco T for under 15 bucks for a foot

I don't have time to wait for shipping right now, thus I didn't buy stainless. I know what it was designed for and yes, I've thought about it. I still did it because I can't find high temp silicone hose.
Where the **** do I find it? I didn't try lowes or any hardware stores though...

lowes or home depot are a home furnishing store, the highest rating of any lines is used for hot water heater hose. That's about it. Hoses are designed to have a chemical resistant as well as pressure and temperature, so be very very careful, your hot oil combined with the chemical in it can corrode the rubber hoses lining quicker than the time you're driving your car around for the first few times...
If you are in a big hurry, I would suggest to try hydraulic fitting store locally.
I sell -10AN by the foot (unlike most store, per 3 ft), they are $ 9.00 a foot, 2-3 day shipping is only $ 3.00
why risk it ?

A friend of mine has been running a rubber hose for his return line for a while now with no problems thus far. I'll ask him what kind of hose it is.

Well hopefully the hose will hold up. I can only see it giving me problems if the end of the hose is in concact in oil. The one I have is rated for 180 degrees so I don't think there will be any real problem with it although I will check it right away. I have a couple hose clamps on both ends.
Flamenco-T: If I were to buy stainess hose, will this work with hose clamps? The oil drain that is on the pan is only a small welded tube...

yes, the stainless braided line will be fine with a tube and hose clamp. Just measure the dimater of the tube so I can get you the right size hose
