questions when street tuning with a wideband
hey whats up, i just orderd my wideband today, and
plan to tune it probolly in 2 weeks. But I am still hella confused. I was hopeing you guys could answer some questions. 1) I know i need to tune the car 14.5 in vacume, but after vacume what should my air fuel ratio be? 2) can i hit boost in low throttle? what should my low throttle air fuel ratio be set to from 1k rpm to 6500 rpm? 3) am i tuning based on the rpm, or based on how much boost i am at? 4) when tuning the rpm points must i be boosting? or can i aclerate slowly and hold the rpm there as I adjust the safc to get me to the air fuel ratio that I am seeking? 5) what will happen if i floor the car at 2k rpm, how do i tune so i do not blow my motor flooring it in low rpms, is this because the air fuel ratio is set in the hi throttle and as i floor it the fuel maps will switch to the hi throttle map? 6) can you please tell me what air fuel ratio to be shooting for in the low and hi throttle example lo thr - 1k (13.0) 2k(12.7)3k(12.6)4k(11.9)5k(11.9)etc Hi thr - should i shoot for 11.9 across the whole hi throttle? any help will help thanks alot! |

I like my Golden Sheet better, hehehe. I should have also changed my boost AFR's to 11:1 or 11.5:1. But one thing I noticed is the original poster mentioned a wideband but he is tuning with an AFC. Which makes me wonder if he has anything to datalog with.

Re: questions when street tuning with a wideband
since your running the afc I would not do much loading up in the gears and letting it pull through (if any)... you do not want it to end up hanging in an area of the map with a ton of timing advance.
be sure to pull a good bit of timing @ the dizzy, if you have not already. |
Yikes! Sounds to me like you need to do alot more reading and understanding before attempting to tune...

Re: (swlabhot)
believe me ive done ALOT of reading, i think its just one of those things that you have to just do to under stand

Re: (AVXHATCH)
First.. get rid of the AFC. You're going to end up messing something up, especially with not knowing what you're doing. Go look around at Uberdata and Crome.. each are free and are 234542353442342x better than an AFC. You cannot control timing and fuel independently with an AFC.. meaning you're probably going to have your timing advanced way too much. Anyone else will probably agree with me to get rid of the AFC.
Also.. you tune by vacuum vs. rpm as showed in the aforementioned tables. |
