Default questions pertaining to turbo...noob to boost

Im thinking of going turbo on my 96 LS but I have a few questions on it.

First off is 1200 a good price for a greddy 15g turbo kit w/310 injectors, fmic, fuel pump, down pipe, HKS BOV, cast iron manifold, and all ic piping?

How much boost should i run to be safe? I was thinking 6-8psi.

I did a comp. check a few months ago and got 195 across the board. Is there any other precautions I should take while boosting on stock internals, stock ignition, and no major tuning?

and uh...how much of an increase in whp should i expect?

TIA guys-n-gals, I'm really tired of being harassed by these neon srt-4's in my area!!

i personaly think the 15g is to small for that motor. 15g turbo kits or normaly for the d16's

besides a comp check, you can do a leakdown test as well. this will let you know if you have any issues with your rings, valve seals , etc...

whp increase , will depend on size of turbo, psi your runnning and how well it's tunned.

enough to whip on a STOCK srt-4, if he has a turbo upgrade and knows what he is doing . good luck.. , those motors are hardcore.

Everything was used in the same setup for around 3k.

Also what about plugs? What kind of plugs should I get? And what gap?

Thanks for all the help guys.

So what type of problems could arise from this set-up??

I dont really want to spend that much money and have to rebuild the engine in the near future.

as long as you motor checks out ok now,, good compression and leakdown test.

get it tunned with a good fuel management system, and keep up on maintanance ( oil changes )

dont run around untuned.
dont boost over 8psi
dont use a fmu

you should not have any issues what so ever.
