Default Questions on Downpipe with o2's on stock d16y8 motor???

I will be purchasing a 3 inch downpipe that will have 2 o2bungs welded to it.

First off this will be on a 99 DX HATCHBACK OBD2b currently that I will convert to a p28 OBD 1 using UBERDATA once I install the turbo/mani/DP etc..

My question is.. the manufacturer stated there will be 2 o2 bungs on it... Do i really need 2 or will 1 just do since im going to OBD I? If I just need one.. do I have them weld it near the end of the DP before the flexpipe? Please help!!

You should only need one 4 wire o2 for the OBDI Uber setup if you wish to have o2 feedback active, if not then you don't need any. I run with only a wideband that is not feeding any info the the ecu and have the feedback disabled, it seems to work well.

interesting.. so I should have the manufacturer weld only one o2 onto the downpipe then right? (if i want the feedback active)

Would this be welded right before the flexpipe?

Also, what are some advantages to running the o2 on this turbo application?

Honestly, I would have them put both bungs in, just because it is much easier to plug that one then it is to weld another in later. With the second bung you could run a stock o2 and a wideband (on the dyno or street) with no mod to the DP, or it will also allow you to compare the readings of different widebands. You are running a wideband right???

The location of the bung isn't too critical, just make sure that it is somewhere between 12 and 24 inches from the turbo.

If you choose to leave the o2 enabled it just uses the readings from the o2 in cruise to trim fuel or add fuel based on what the o2 is telling the ECU, just like it does in a stock application.

Perhaps in the future, in the meantime I'm just going to use the stock o2's on the car right now. Once I get it running, I will perhaps get wideband before tuning. I will let the manufacturer know to weld 2 o2 bungs as he was insisting then. Was going to inform him to do just 1 since i'm not exactly sure if 2 was needed.

Who are you going to have tune the car???

If you need a good deal on a WB, PM Hondaddict here on H-T, he's a distributor for PLX and will make you an awesome deal.

Thanks for the info for thw WB. I'm not 100% sure, I will need to go on a search for UBERDATA tuners, this will be for a stock d16y8 on a custom t3 60 trim turbo kit. Will try to hit the 200whp mark.

Sounds like a good plan! I think that is probably pretty close to what my A6 was making with the 60 trim. Traction limited in 1st and second to say the least.
