Question on: skunk2 springs and retainers for boosted b18c NEED ANSWER ASAP PLZ
I purchased a set of cams, springs and retainers a long time ago. They were a set for an H series motor stage 2 cams and the springs and retainers that go along with them. This was a long time ago, I sold the car and ended up selling the cams...I'm currently building a built b18c gsr and my question is.....am I able to use the spring and retainers from the H series in a B series?
I'm pretty sure I can but I just want to double check. Also, the thing that concerns me the most, is whether the spring rate will work well with stock gsr valves and cam. Will I have a chance in valve float?
So, I guess this is a bit of a technical question...it would be nice if a Skunk2 rep or someone with a lot of knowledge in this field could answer my question Thanks in advance..the head is almost ready to be assembled and the machine shop is waiting to know what springs we're putting!
BTW..I did a search, and could not find the answer to the problem...so please dont bash on this thread lol thanks!

i checked...and they dont...but on the box for the retainers it says theyre good for B, D , H and K..so i figure the springs are made depending on spring rates...I'm guessing they should be the same size...

If they are Pro Series springs they will work, but if they are Tuner Series they will not.

Tuner Series Springs for B VTEC motor
Bind = 0.800"
Open Pressure = 210lbs @ .820"
Seat Pressure = 50lbs @1.320"
Pro Series Springs for B VTEC motor
Bind = 0.720"
Open Pressure = 210lbs @ .820"
Seat Pressure = 60lbs @ 1.320"
They will both "work" depending on which cams you plan on going with, however the Pro Series springs are more aggressive. If you plan on going with the Pro Series spring you will need to order the Skunk2 spring base kit.

The difference is the bind and seat pressure.
Tuner Series Springs for B VTEC motor
Bind = 0.800"
Open Pressure = 210lbs @ .820"
Seat Pressure = 50lbs @1.320"
Pro Series Springs for B VTEC motor
Bind = 0.720"
Open Pressure = 210lbs @ .820"
Seat Pressure = 60lbs @ 1.320"
