Default question re: NPT fittings

reagarding the ports on the back of the GSR JG Victor X manifold, i knwo that the small ones are 1/8 NPT...one of them i needed to retap to get the fittign to thread at all. what size are the bigger ones? 1/4 NTP fittings thread in, but only about half-way. is this typical w/ NPT fittings? becasue some of them thread in further than others, and i don't want to over-toprque them or anything. so far i've just been using teflon tape and torquing them down firmly...

I noticed the same thing with that manifold... everything included only threads in halfway... especially that HUGE hex bolt on the right hand end of the manifold...

You might want to get a tap for those holes and run it thru. Probably just un-clean cuts - happens all the time.

If you don't want to re-tap you can always run a spare bolt in there with some anti-sieze, that may also clean it up.

yeah, i had a 1/8 NPT tap and that fixed em up, just didn't happen to have a 1/4 NPT tap on hand. but i also know that NPT fittings are a tapered thread, so then are they even supposed to thread all the way in?

what size is that huge hex-plug, BTW? i have to buy that allen soon.

I don't know about the taper, any time I tap NPT I just tap all the way in. I'm sure it's fine as long as you use teflon on the threads (I've never had a problem).

On the hex, I have no idea since I don't have this manifold, but I have a big set of hex keys so I always have the one I need.

Good luck!
