Default Question for anyone with a H22 with Hondata

I'm trying to get Hondata so I can get my car tuned, but I don't want to pay way too much. I just talked with my local shop and they told me I need the p28 ECU ($425) and then I need to buy the s200 w/boost ($495). So I'm going to have to pay $1,000 just for parts?! Did everyone else pay this much? And please don't reply with "Uberdata", I'm getting Hondata, and I have my reasons. Where can I get a better price. Thanks!

BTW. As of right now I have no knowlege of ECUs. I've done some searching but can't the answers I'm looking for. What exactly is the p28. What is the differance between that and what I have now? Does it replace my ECU? Help!

Not going to happen. Hondata means your going to have to pay up.

The P28 is the Honda ECU ($100-$150 maybe?). The parts to socket and chip your ECU are like $25. Hondata is nothing more than software that lets you tune your fuel, ignition, vtec, etc...

I would like to hear these "reasons" you don't want to go with uberdata by the way...

The parts to socket and chip ecu should come with the Hondata.

If it helps...you can get a Hondata Ready Chipped P28 ECU from 93turbo16 for about $150.
