Default Question for ALL BUILT turbo guys.

Alright, Right now I have J.E pistons and Eagle rods and made 330whp at 14psi. You can look at my websight for all my mods. Oh ya B18C bottom end with b16head.

So down to buisness:

Im saving for a complete rebuild and I got all my pricing today and this is what forsure Im getting.

1. T-Top sleeves to .84mm
2. Wiseco Pistons
3. JG intake manifold, Im selling the itr intake manifold.
4. Balance Bottom end
5. Valve job
6. Crower valve springs
7. Resurface head (A Must at .84mm)
8. Polish crank
9. Thermal Research and Development 3" exhaust, sell my smaller thermal that I have on now.
10. Then obv all new main, rod bearings, all new valve seals and guides, and a complete honda gasket set.

Im debuting:

Knife edge crank
Bore throttle, would be 4mm bigger
Lighten and resurface flywheel, would weight 12 rather then 18 pounds

*If I dont do the few things above I will save only 420$ canadian but My total is already around 6000 canadian with the full race rebuild.

Im hoping to easily make over 450whp and Another guy in Ottawa with this set up made 521whp so I know I should be right around there. All I have to do after is sell my t3/t4 and either get a better t3/t4 with bigger trims or probably go t4 or t4 60-1. Im looking for all suggestions and or comments. Plus I will most likely keep my waste gate plummed in as it would be killer loud and make more power open but the cops arent the most friendly people to deal with !

Thanks

dont waste your time with a 60-1. Get a nice precision turbo that will flow in excess of 600+hp. that will make your 550 goal so much easier. IM or email me for pricing.thanks

I got my precision turbo from Arturbo...just FYI

definitely get your crank knifed edged, I had seen a knife edged crank saves the journal damage from spun bearings...due to lighter rotation mass...again, long shot, but when it comes down to it, it may make a difference.

it never happen to me, I just happen to see it...

as far as lightened flywheel, remember this, the rev faster true, will help spool up, but they will fall out of rev faster as well....it's just the trade off...
I shaved my stock flywheel to 14lbs ish...works for me...

BTW: I have a 60-1

I liked my stock type r flywheel better than the 6lb clutchmaster by far. the car made more torque, idle smoother and didnt rip tires as much. the tire part only matters if you street race.

i was always under the impression that for turbo you want to polish your crank and not knife-edge it as you want to with n/a. Heres your opportunity to teach me something new.....

Also, Mike... what are your opinions on the t4 60-1 .82 ar p-trims?

Well as its my thread I kow that polishing your crank just simply cleans it up but when you knife edge it your taking alot of the rotation mass off of it alowing it to spin much more quickly. But if you were to usually choose either lighten flywheel or knife edge crank its best to go with lighter fly wheel as thats what Ive been told!

Leave the crank alone

Throttle body isn't worth it IMO for FI unless going all out, although I did it

I would buy a new flywheel rather than putting yours on a diet

I guess he is saying that you must enlarge the chamber for the larger bore. This has been discussed and people will argue that there are no gains at all and is definitely NOT a "must".

My question is: You say a honda headgasket. I guess you are using the b20 gasket? What mods do you need to do to make it work? Would it be the same procedure for a 84mm b16?

just use a cometic head gasket.....r&d dyno has them in stock for a b16 w 84mm bore and a b16 head.

Well the reason to resurface the head would be exactly what you said below. Weather or not there is a gain, the shop doing the complete rebuild is doing that for free so its not a big deal if I see gains or not. They have it done in all there 9/10sec hondas so they must be doing something right I figure.

I think golden eagle will sell you an off the shelf OEM 84mm headgasket, which is what I recommend going with.

Type R flywheel is the best of both worlds....
