Quality, Value, and Benefit: Custom 2.5" vs Comptech 2.25"
I'm considering going junkyard turbo on my LS Integra with a T-25 running around 8 pounds of boost on stock internals.
I currently have a Comptech Icebox, Air Filter, 4-2-1 Header, Carsound High-Flow Cat, and Comptech S/S Catback exhaust. Its pretty much 2.25" all the way through. I am very pleased with the quality, looks, and sound of this system. I paid over $1,030 for this setup new. I figure I could sell these parts for around $775. This means I would lose $255, or 25% of my original investment.
I am considering going to a custom, mandrel bent stainless steel 2.5" exhaust system. I will want this system to be as quiet as possible while still retaining straight-through performance. With the neccessary custom piping kit, a resonator, Carsound cat, and a Magnaflow exhaust, this system will cost me $470 give or take a few dollars from Accordinglydone.com. Let's then factor in about $75 for welding and miscellaneous expenditures. I will still have to factor in another $50 for Home Depot intercooler piping and let's say $250 for an eBay intercooler . Total cost comes to about $845.
What do you think... stay with the Comptech I already have and love and know is a quality system that will last for years to come, or go with this custom S/S system that (hopefully) uses quality components.
Thanks,
Ben
