Default pushing 450's need some tuner's opinions..

hey guys i currently have about 270-280 whp 10-11 psi and want to push it to a bar this year and run slicks. But i dont want to use larger injectors currently have 450's and a b20 motor still non/vtec. The question is can those injectors handle about 320-330 whp if i were to double my base fp to 70-80 psi to relieve duty cycle??? (also i have a 255 hp pump, and adjust. fpr ) I know 450's have seen 300-310 but never much higher do you think it can be done, my current tune is also amazing so the tune isnt the problem its my thery that i dont know. thanks

I guess it comes down to this:

Whats more important to you... saving $200 on bigger injectors, or... blowing your $3000 motor to pieces...?

you can jack up the pressure, but make sure your fuel pump can handle the pressure and keep up with the flow. i wouldnt go over 55 or 60 psi, rember that you will gain one psi of pressure for every psi of boost... if you have 55 psi base pressure and you are running 15psi then you will have 70psi pressure at full boost

You should be seeing ~95% duty on 450's at 300whp, which is already pretty high.. might wanna consider 550's if you want more.

but if the flow rates of the pump dont change much at the higher pressure can it be done?? in raising the pressure the duty cycle will drop a huge amount. This is also not a daily driver so it wont see the road to much to worry about. i as of now have my base pressure to about 60-62 psi and running 11.5 psi and car runs amazingly .... from what i have seen and talked to people about it , the jump wont hurt the car as long as the output of the pump doesnt drop that much if it drops the flow then that could be a bad thing, but just think possitivly that if it flows it goes

255 Walbro cannot sustain pressures exceeding 65psi for very long. Just man up and get some bigger injectors.

The walbro 255HP shouldn't have a problem whatsoever. That's what I have and I think that you shouldn't really have a problem.

As far as your tune goes... I think that you will need to re-tune once you turn your fp up? I'm guessing it will **** everything up if you dont...

Good luck!

YOu shouldnt have any problem jacking up the pressure. I made 390 with 450's. Depending on your fuel pump and FPR..

tygsr how much base pressure were you running to hit 390 with your 450's??? i know it can be done i may loose my 5th gear pull ability but who cares the car is going to just be a track queen anyway now, and i will only use till 4th. if i have to i may just add an inline ontop of the 255 hp now to keep the flow constant with about 80 base psi im guessing my injectors will push far beyond what i am asking them to do.

450's are fine with your desired hp, hell i've seen 440's make 420hp

There are 2 version of the 255LP pump. The Walbro GSS-317 (255lph) and the Walbro GSS-342 (255lph high ouput). They both flow about the same up till about 70 psi. From there, the GSS317 falls on its face pretty quickly. The GSS342 is able to maintain good pressure up to about 90 psi.
