Have you datalogged it? it could be falling out of boost some between gears. Best option for that is to enable wot shifting in the computer.

Otherwise it could be your tip in fuel adjustments a little too rich or the lower rpm/boost maps jumpy/ rich.

Try cruising in say 2nd gear at like 7000 then let off and go wot and see if it does the same thing.

if you tried the 7000 rpm and stabbing the throttle and it still did the same thing then this can possibly correspond to your map being jumpy between columns in the lower boost/vacuum columns of your fuel/ignition maps.. Perhaps interpolate by column your map in lower boost or post a screen shot of your vtec fuel and ignition tables.

That timing map looks really, really, copy and pasted.

In all of my personal maps I have used close to oem timing values up until boost pressure. So basically (unless base timing is affected by something such as cam gear adjustments) I generally start at the 38-41 degrees at the left (most vacuum) and progressively step down to say 28 degrees at 0 vacuum. Then you can do your basemap from there.

So to try something you could essentially Start with 40 degrees for your left column(-3.4 column) Then at your ".4 psi' column put in 28, then highlight the area in between and select "interpolate by column."

This could possibly help to fix your issue. Even though it's a "guess" at ignition timing, it shouldn't hurt anything to try being that it's all out of boost.
That flat timing curve before boost very well may be your rich spot.

Thank you for the detailed input. I did exactly what you said above with no change. I did notice that anything below 5500 rpm is fine and smooth when the throttle is applied. Anything above 5500 caused the breaking up with any reapplication of the throttle. Applying 50% or 100%, doesnt matter and still causes breaking up. Does that help at all? Thank you.

I'm having this same exact issue on my car with Neptune RTP. Just got my data log setup, gonna see what it's doin next time I get to the track. but yea, pulls like a freight train to redline, switch gear, go back to WOT and nothing but a weird sputter for a half second then right back to pulling hard like normal.. So frustrating.

I have a similar problem when quick shifting ....my boost recovery causes a lean spike and runs funny until the s300 can catch up to the boost .... And I have no idea if I can adjust tip in throttle for boost conditions lol

What AFR's did you tune the low boost columns to? My guess is the same as your high boost columns, which isn't needed. The added pressure building in the exhaust til it reaches full boost again could cause a major loss in volumetric efficiency til the WG opens again.

Also what MAP sensor are you using?

Get some BKR7E's. 8's are probably too cold of a plug. And gap them down more, like 0.020 or so.

Neither the negative tip on or the full throttle shift helped at all. I will try the different spark plugs next.

In order to help, we need a datalog of the problem. Are you lifting your foot off of the accelerator when shifting or not? What is your "minimum throttle" VTEC set to? Try setting it to 0% and see what happens.

Mines would break up on higher rpm . I adjusted my valves and fixed the problem

Datalog a pass and in the areas where it goes rich, try to lean it out. The cars probably reading from a part of the map that could not get fine tuned on the dyno from just doing a single gear pull.
