PROOF!!!! Sohc non vtec.. 300+whp and 11 sec runs..Vitara setup
Sometime ago i posted a thread about someone i know who has a 98 DX coupe, d16y7 motor and how he dynoed 300+ whp and some amazing torque numbers (comonly i've seen higher than usual torque numbers with vitaras)and also how he ran 11.9 sec runs. Some guys wanted a slip and a dyno sheet as proof and i said i was gonna get ahold of the guy to get it..I keep my word so here it is.
Dynoed 315whp and 297lbs/ft with Vitara pistons on a Y7 engine.I dunno why the torque graph goes whack at the end...Probably due to pressing the clutch while reving the car when it redlined.... The car is still using OEM OBDII ECU and is tuned via APEXi AFR(yes i know u guys hate it)
The car ran last week 11.8 @ 116mph with just 1.89 o-60fts...Driver weights 260lbs so the car is not exactly light... Car has A/C hooked up and running.Run was on Race gas but with full exhaust hooked up.. 24-26PSI on a toy turbo --->T3 .42.48 off a volvo
I hope this is enough proof for you guys...
Car #7832
Dyno sheet:
This guy has been running the Vitaras for way more than me..Around 3 1/2yrs with vitaras for him. He was my inspiration to do the vitaras on my engine and boost it. This is the same guy that drove my car when it ran 12.44 @ 111mph

why?..Is not needed, and to make a point...lol
you dont need a swap...you dont always need vtec(is not always better)...and it is simpler to tune as well..
but i dont have any proof that non vtec is better for turbo but atleast here in P.R. all the non vtec turbo setups are generaly faster than the vtecs. Non vtec heads seems to accept boost very well

VTEC heads flow better and let you run bigger cams. They'll let you rev higher and make more power per pound of boost, but if you're limiting yourself with a tiny T3 turbo it really doesn't matter what head you're running. Try and build a 500 WHP non-vtec SOHC, and see how much that head holds you back then.

yeah vtec head Should flow better and has more cam and upgrade options but as i said it is not needed...
In here there are alot other cars other than Hondas that with a sohc heads and no vtec make power..There are some Mitsubishi mirage(Technicas in P.R.) guys here that put down 400+whp on their 1.8lt sohc motors..so i guess its just a matter of time when we will start seeing 400+whp sohc non vtec hondas .. The most i know so far is 385whp on a sohc non vtec head ..
Anyways i think 500whp+ on a light Honda is really pointless..I wouldnt do it for a street car. It will be ridiculuos how lil traction there would be with that kind of power.

so many things going against everything we're "told"
-D-block (yea us ever so elitest B-block guys will never give it enough credit)
-essentially a AFC hack/tune on the OBDII!!!!!!
-WHAT?!?! NO VTAKk?
thats amazing man.

Maybe a bit of boost creep (on a straight t3 though?)? Just a guess.
Nice times, and nice #'s.
