Project holset hx40 on a sohc(pics inside)
To all sohc people I have done it.done what!!Ispooled a holset hx40 with my stock d15vtec it hauls ***.I will post some pic later tonight,its a holset hx40 with a garrett .48 housin(ported) I 'm currently runinin 10psi.I only have a few issues now like i'm having a compressor surge if anyone can telkl me how to eliminate it ur help is appreciated.
This is a size comparison on the left is a t3 60 compressor and the right is a holset hx40(separating the men from the boyz)
About setup:
stock jdm vtec d15(10psi)
log mani
holset hx40 /with garret .48 housin ported 2 fit holset big *** turbine wheel
greddy bluebox for now with 310 inj
my only problem is compressor surge but hell yea it feels good
I see full boost by 4000rpm

D15 with a huge turbo like that is going to surge sometimes. The engine doesnt need nearly the airflow that the HX-40 wants to push and air backs up and slows the compressor wheel. Nothing you can do about it since you already have an anti-surge housing.

first off props for doing it. second, it's gonna blow up. You know what CFM that thing is putting out at 10psi??? fuking a. And running it on the blue box? wtf

I'll tell you avery good possible cause, too much backpressure on exhaust side, you have a cast collectorless manifold...
Your downpipe looks really small too but it looks like your A.C. compressor is in the way.

yeah mang! props for doin it but im pretty sure that turbo shouldnt be run at UNDER 10psi, which is probably where the surge is coming from, also did you make that .48 housing fit the exhaust side????, looks like someone ported it to fit the bigger holset wheel
