Default Project DSM 450cc w/o a resistor box.

This project is being done on a 96 GSR with 9psi jrsc, Hondata 2b, and a whole lot of other mods.

Using some oem b16 lower injector seals, and the oem DSM upper seals, I was able to mount my 450cc DSM injectors into the GSR last night. It was a nice fit, and with the addition of 10mm spacers between the rail and the intake manifold, it fits like factory.

Step 2 of the project is to wire them up with the proper resisitance, so I don't fry the injector o/p's on the ecu. Since a factory Resistor box is a bit difficult to find around here, I'm going to try and wire some 10w/10ohm resistors on the yellow wire to the injector. After looking into the guts of the resisitor box, and speaking with another member, I really think this will work.

Does anyone have anything to add before I start cutting and wiring?
Thanks.

pics to follow once everything is working.

sounds like youre good to go but be carefull about heat issues, 10w is a lot which is why the resistor box is pretty much a hink sink itself

It works fine, I did that exact same thing for like 6 months of heavy driving.

One thing to keep in mind - the leads on those resistors are fragile and can break if the resistors are not well supported... you should probably mount them to a breadboard or something to prevent this.

Thanks for the votes of confidence.
Now to find the resistors. Radio Shack doesn't do that business anymore, and my local electronics guy is out of stock.

I'll be sure to post up a nice how-to when the project is complete.

cheers

Hypa, you shouldnt use spacers between on the fuel rail. The way you have it, the injectors arent far enough into the manifold. The fuel spray is definatly not going to be optimized. All you have to do is bore out the stock grommets w/ a rotary rasp. I can make you a set for cheap, IM me if your interested.

I'm running them now. No problems so far.

awesome!!!! post some pics.
hmmmm.is 6ohms enough for these injectors. ive got an old resistor box from a legend(yes a v6) and they show 6 ohms resistance...should i go back to the scrap yard and look for a newer box?

I dunno... I ran 8 ohms for awhile with no problems.

Thats how it should be, seated like stock.
If you only have just the tip of the injector pushed into the rubber, the spray is gonna be more concentrated on top of the port. You can get spare grommets at the junkyard for under $5, and modify them in 20mins.
