Previous/current F20c F22c, H, and B engine builders
Weighing my options:
1.) Build my S2000 with 600 whp range = estimated $10k+ 2.) Purchase a clean hatchback, boost H22 or B18C1 or B18B, 600 whp+ range = $10k or less? With the FRM in F20c F22c and H22A requiring a sleeve rebuild, I am leaning towards the B series motor for major boost goals. Hesitant to even crack open F motor since home garage rebuild 'is not recommended'. So the H22A is a nice candidate. Note: I will be installing and tuning myself so trial/error will mean a possible engine replacement. In terms of my willingness to spend money, I am not looking spend too much due to #Adulting. Build goal is to run 1/2 mile races, decent decent handling for street, and get those Lambo kills. This turbo build will be a weekend/ non-daily driver. For previous/current owners who are running boost, are my budget prices accurate? What types of setbacks have you experienced? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

you should pay a tuner that is experienced and knows the platform and power goals you are going for otherwise you are wasting time/money unless you plan to open a tuning business of your own and want to practice on your car for a while till you nail it.

600WHP can be done on a bone stock F20/F22C with a good tune. Since you're tuning yourself though, you probably won't want to take that risk.
Sleeves with a B or H will be mandatory for 600+, or with a B series engine at the very least CSS. Your budget is too small when considering the chassis, engine, fuel, EMS, and turbo components needed. |

IMO, a 600hp S2000 and a 600hp FWD Civic are 2 really different animals when it's all said and done. I've owned a 600+whp D series and own a 600+ whp S2k now. They are just different types of "fast" for me. Both have (had) sleeved blocks... (as far as the S2k goes, the block wasn't the hardest hit $ wise...it was the rear end conversion) |

Limited budget, extravagant goals, finicky platforms, beginner build.. What could go wrong?

Thanks all for your detailed replies. What is the realistic budget for a 600 hp car? I am leaning towards a civic hatchback because of cheaper replacement parts specifically the motor. |

With how cheap K24s are at US for 1/2 mile /roll racing it becomes very obvious K24 with a K20A2/Z3 is very capable. EFR9174 was htting full boost at 4500 on a k24 (...)

What about boosting a d16 for 400+ hp? What is the budget range?
Is it even worth the time building a sohc? |

Any idea on the expected budget range for a 400+ whp turbo d16 setup? Everything prior to chassis modifications and professional tuning to clean up my tuning.
