Precision SC63 or Garrett GT40???
I am having a tough time deciding which turbo to get. I am looking to run at least 600whp minimum on my B18C1 and which turbo has the better spool and sorta things like that. LMK guys. Thanks!

I'll be honest with you, for that kind of power, there is no "better" spool. You can easily use a PT72 to get that kind of power, though the SC63 is a bit nice for that particular power goal..

I wouldnt get the GT40 unless it was the GT40R. You could get a GT40 turbine with a 67mm compressor. On a B18C 2.0L we have seen 675whp at 28psi at the intake manifold. Spools faster than any other large framed turbo too.

My project is still in the works, in which I use a SC63. On prelim. tuning, and break-in driving it spooled pretty well considering. Hit full boost of 14 psi around 4400rpms. Vtec set at 4800rpms, pulled ok around 5k, but hit hard around 6k+, partly due to my set-up. I have no experience with the others though.

If your gona get anything, go with what art said the T67 is a great choice because of its power capabilitys and spoolup times.. Especially if you said that you want at least 600whp.
T3/T67 is capable of about 650whp max.
SC61 about 610-620whp
SC63 will produce similar numbers as well but is not a good combo for our motors.
Your best bet choice would be a gt40r but the gt35r will make power in the mid 600+ and spool up better than any of the ones listed above..
GT42 is for guys with BIG *** ***** and or Supras. hehe

im a little confused on what your saying? are u saying the 35r will make more power in the midrange? is that cause it spools quicker then the 40r?
so who has used a 40r? around when do they spool for high boost?

Yes, the gt35 will make more power in the midrange sence it will spool up quicker than the gt40r.
I'm not a 100% on this but I think on a 83mm+ bore b series motor you can expect it to be spooled up at 6000k.
The difference between the gt40 and the gt40r is that the R model is a dual ball bearing turbo and there fore costs about $900 more than the regular model.

makes sense, if u had a bigger engine to where at 5k u were at the same boost then the 40r would make more correct.
so u think a 88 mm 2.4 h series would spool a 40 r by 4.5-5k? im leaning towards the 40r more 35r since my goal is between 6-700whp

Re: Precision SC63 or Garrett GT40??? (fastludeh22)
gt40's are HUGE, imo they are more for higher disp. cars like supra's , but for 700 whp it may be the answer, someone correct me if im wrong but isnt the gt40 rated up to 1000hp(crank) if so i think what alot of preludes run is a straight T70

I doubt your gona have it spooling that quick but I think 5500 is attainable if the i/c pipes are the right side, short and efficient.
