Precision 6031 vs Garrett 60 trim
I just purchased a Precision 6031 but as I was looking through the turbos I noticed it's rated for more power than a Garrett 60 trim, can someone explain this to me because they are both 60 trims? both turbos are stage 3 wheels .63 hotsides. both are journal bearing as well. I'm just curious as to why Garrett's turbo maxes out at 500whp and Precision claims to max out at 590whp.

maybe the wheel design or maybe just the way each company advertises its power
One may advertise max power while the other may advertise power in its efficiency range...
Isnt the precision a ball bearing turbo?
IDK just a thought... Im in for an answer as well...

yeah I was thinking maybe wheel design with all of precisions new line of turbos coming out, some have to be better than some of the older Garrett wheels, but then again they could be posting higher numbers to sell more turbos:p

Re: Precision 6031 vs Garrett 60 trim
trim is just the relationship/ratio between the wheel inducer and exducer..
from garretts site:
"Trim is a common term used when talking about or describing turbochargers. For example, you may hear someone say "I have a GT2871R ' 56 Trim ' turbocharger. What is 'Trim?' Trim is a term to express the relationship between the inducer* and exducer* of both turbine and compressor wheels. More accurately, it is an area ratio"
just because both turbos are 60 trim doesnt mean they are the same size. one could have a bigger compressor wheel and smaller turbine wheel or vice vera or larger both, but still have the same ratio between the wheels giving it different flow and more power. the gt35r is only a 56 trim, same as a gt28r. both turbos have way different power outputs
