Default Pre-turbo tune up

I think I may just try to get a small loan through the cradit union at my work to buy my turbo with. Instead of builing my motor first to handle huge amounts of boost, Im just going to go with the DRAG kit (I think). What do you guys think sould be done to an engine with 87,xxx miles on it before instaling the turbo? Maybe new timing belt, water pump, complete tune up by mechanic?

I want it so bad, takes so long to save

If I do it, I'll only get the loan for half of what the turbo will cost, I'll save the rest. Hell I bought my damn wheels with credit! Stupid me..... I don't see why I ever wanted them, Im just trying to sell them now so I can buy some rota subzero's in 16".

dont get a loan man....what if something s up and ur motor blows up....than u would still be paying for the turbo for a car that doesnt run and u would be short because u got no cash to make ur ride work.....just keep saving...someday the time will come..ohh and subzeros are fugly, get slipstreams or circuit 8's

I think the Subs look better than them all! I think it because I like how the RacingHart CP-035s look, and they look about the same as the subzero. I just cand decide what color I want them in. Think the gunmetal would look good on my black teg?

Well Back to the origianl post, what should I do to prep my motor before turboing it?

Oh if I do get the loan in will only be like $24 a week out of my weekly pay check. It would be too bad. I don't know, maybe I'll just sell all of my worldley possesions to buy it.

Default wo0!!

I'd stray from using CC's. One of my older and much wiser brother's once said to me, "Dont use a credit card unless you have the money in the bank to pay for it" and he's right! You'll dig yourself into a HOLE so deep you'll never get out.

Using a CC for a turbo'd Honda just buy's you a bigger shovel.

Save for the turbo!

BLK94rs: My first suggestion is compression test, change fuel filter, pcv valve, and if you want to go the extra mile a leakdown test. Mae sure you get a clder plug once you have the turbo installed and new oil filterand oil cange.. GOOD LUCK

Well, all the things you mention sounded good. However they also require more money. Change the clutch to a stage II might help too. Enjoy your turbo.

Yes, using credit cards for turbo items is not recommended.

I am left with about $5000 in credit card debt, and this is for parts that I no longer have because the car that the parts were mounted to was destroyed. So I'm paying interest on something that doesn't exist anymore.

i would recommend a new clutch, flywheel, 2.5"-3.00" exhaust, boost gauge, egt gauge, halmeter a/f gauge, oil pressure gauge, msd ignition box and coil and timing belt. and as mentioned before, new fuel filter, pcv valve, adjust your valve clearance and regular tune up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. ) and use ngk plugs with a heat range of 7. this may be a long list but, it is to keep you safe and to use your turbo system to it's fullest potential.

and yes, don't do mods with a credit card because the mods are limitless while your paychecks to pay back the credit card only goes so far. you will basically be playing catch up the whole time. i bought my turbo system with cash but, the extra parts put me in debt damn it.

^good advice. a wise man once said not to do any mod if you can't pay to fix the car if that mod blows up the car. . ..

or at least have some backup wheels.

Clutch CLutch Clutch!! Guaranteed to burn on you not long after you boost (esp. if you still have the factory clutch @ 87k miles)

Clutch is on the top of my list. Probably a ClutchNet stage 2. As for charging my turbo, it won't be like I have a CC with a unlitimited limit. I will go through my works credit union(also my bank) and get a small personal loan for $2000. It will be for 2 years, and will take 20-25 dollars a week out of my weekley pay check. I did somthing similar to this for my first car, the loan was for $4000 and it took just over $35.00 a week out of my check. I didn't even notice the missing money, and never had to worry about getting a payment in by the due date. I think this will work well for me.

Just save some money, you'll get raped in interest charges and end up paying more money just for the interest. It's cheaper if you save.

try to just hold out a little longer and save up for the turbo kit. another thing is you should upgrade your clutch cuz that's gonna burn out real fast when you start boosting...well..it really depends on how you drive..but its a great upgrade withing itself.

You need to replace the word "image" with "img" also in the brackets, then try it. Like this:
