? for ppl with magnaflow oval 3" muffler
How does it sound on ur boosted car? i'm looking to run one w/ no cat/res.
I ask because i had this muffler on my built N/A car last year (straight piping) and it sounded raspy (it sounded like complete **** to be honest)
thanks

You normally dont get a deep tone with a straight pipe on an NA car...If you wanted that deep tone you would have need either a cat or a resonator.

Re: ? for ppl with magnaflow oval 3" muffler
I had the 5x8x18 on my car in a 2.5" in/out, and it sounded great to me. I wasn't sure how it would sound in a 3".
Until I find the time to build my stronger bottom end, I'm stuck with a 2.25" Dynomax on the car (with a 2.5" inlet on it) to make enough back pressure to keep my boost creep somewhat in check. As soon as I can get the boostable bottom end in the car I'll finish the 3" system on the back half of the car where I have the 2.5" now. I have a 5x8x3 oval bodied Magnaflow and one of those ridiculous monster 5x11x22" ones that divides the flow into 2.5" tubes through the middle. I think I'll start with the smaller one because it's lighter, more packagable, and will probably be quiet enough.
Oh, the good sound of my 5x8x18" 2.5" one was with a .63 turbine housing on an SC61. I think the hot side of the turbo has an effect on the sound. I've read that people have noticed a lot more sound volume going from .48 to .82 or something. . .

Short 5x8 Magnaflow 3" sounds good on my car. "Save Target As" and ignore the blower whine. It'll be a bit quieter on a turbo car:

Re: ? for ppl with magnaflow oval 3" muffler
I have a 3" exhaust from turbo to bumper with the magnaflow oval muffler and a magnaflow resonator. I love how it sounds not raspy at all and pretty quiet. I haven't had a problem with cops yet...just sounds like a nice honda exhaust....as long as you stay out of boost and vtec of course
