You put a b18 non-vtec head on a b20 block? I was told this couldnt happen and I wouldnt benifit from it even if it could happen. I was thinking of putting a b18b1 head on my b20b block. What did you do to make it work, and did you see any big differences after swapping the heads?

In almost every case, B20 heads are near identical to LS heads.
I actually have a ported B18A1 head from a '93 GS on my B20B, and it involved no modification whatsoever to install.

Re: (Doostur)
Makes me wonder. Ive been through a bunch of the threads about guys cracking sleeves on 10psi or less. Ive got an ls/vtec in the car right now that has gottem me down the track in 12.1 @118. but the bottom end is not so good since my wideband went away and i tuned it lean. so ive got a perfectly good b20b that im tryin to sell right now that i got out of a customers car and im contemplating dropping that in. and im also pickin up a full 97 crv drivetrain for $400 that only has 73k on it. Im a little torn on what to do, lol.

Re: (a1320honda)
the only thing for the head swap to work is you have to use the b20 head gasket cuz the b18 head gasket is 2mm too small but the cams, valves, springs, and retaners too. and theres no gains from swaping the heads but swaping the intake manifold will help. but for you turbo guys what are you reving too

that what i have on my car and i did not do anything to the head to make it fit. it just fits. b18b head on a b20

Re: (daluv)
no theres no gains with the b18 heads cuz there the same but if you swap the intake manifold from the b20 one to the b18 you will see a differnts cuz the b20 flows like **** and the b18 onne will flow hella better
(what are you boosted b20s reving to ???)

my head is compleatly built, we only reved it to 9500k on the dyno and power was still good. i have not tried a b20 head, but i have a pr8 head in the works , jdm b20 head.

Mine isnt boosted yet, Im shifting around 6000rpms. Ive got an LS ecu, so Id imagine my redline is 6800, ive never put her past 6200.

Is there a number stamped on the manifolds that I could look for to tell which one I have? I know the motor came from japan, but I think my friend put an LS IM on there before I bought his set-up, but I cant remember, that was quite a while ago.

LS ECU works fine for me.

No idea.
For the numerous amounts of rev-limit posts ...
I rev mine daily [all-motor, mind you] to 7400. I'd imagine no higher than that would be safe. That's, at least, where my rev-limit will stay once I get the B16 head on, until I snag a crank girdle, ACL bearings, and ARP hardware down low.

Re: (DC4 Dave)
thats exactly how people crack sleeves and run into problems, they get valve train and rev to 10k or just rev the hell out the motor with a stock bottom end. The bottom end cant take that kind of abuse stock with all that vibration. Im completely stock revving to 6800-7000.
