So damn near everyone posting in this thread is on stock sleeves ... very interesting.
Maybe my stock bottom-end will hold up for awhile only occasionally seeing 10psi. It'll need a rebuild soon though.
Anywho. Bump. More B20 pressurized goodness!

yes, the stock b20 sleeves will hold 10psi. but really, its all in the tune to be sure how it goes.

man, some powerful stock block setups in here. How high are you guys revving your stock internaled b20's and b20/vtecs? Might have to just make the switch myself.

I'm not sure all i know is its ebay quality stuff. The car hasn't been dynoed yet, but it pulls hard. Oh and i believe he already had to reweld the wastegate flange.

[img]i saw you brake.. 600 level with stock sleeves??? if its true that is pretty crazy... good stuff..[/imh]
That's what happens when you have a very good tuner (Cunha @ CLM Racing) tuning your car.

yea stock b20 sleeves , piston and egale rods, the head is built reving to 9500k and still making power on a ls-nonvtec....frenando is the man "CLM"
going back with new intercooler set-up and 75mm throttle body and more boost he will have no problem making 650+hp

I've got a turbo b20. Stock everything except headstuds, with a P8R head. Setup consists of a blox mani, to a .82AR T3 GT28RS, 3 inch (homemade) turbo back, Tial 38/50, small precision IC tucked behind the grill, and a 2 inch open dump. I run 10ish psi daily and 16-18psi high boost. Best trap so far has been 111mph.
I have a b20vtec kicking around that I got for cheap. It has a bearing on the way out. I was thinking of doing a quick rebuild with the RS Machine pistons then, then throwing my kit on it for a high comp turbo setup. Might do that this winter haha

Re: (1.83Tc)
So internally stock B20's can handle up to 10psi of boost daily driven? Ive got an internally stock B20B and was thinking of boosting it somewhere in the 5-8psi range. Would I see much gain with that amount of boost over my stock horsepower and 1/4 mile E.T.'s? Anyone have any advice?

If it's tuned appropriately - ie no detonation, knock, a respectable a/f ratio, cool intake temps - then there's no reason it couldn't hold up. Case in point, Marcus' EG coupe [white w/ all-stock B20B above] is pushing 13psi, on all stock stuffs. He's got the ability to roast crappy 13" tires through 3rd. In a car with better traction and/or more weight, that car would MOVE.
Also, consider the compression ratio ... 8.8:1? 2nd Generation DSMs are 8.5:1 cr, and boost 10psi from the factory. Given, however, that they've got beefier internals from the factory than B20s do, but you'll find the compression ratio on a B20 to be around where most factory boosted cars are.

Awesome! From what Ive been reading, it seems like a good idea to add some Rod bolts (arp) and a block guard to be on the safe side of things, which I think I will add into my mix to, well, be on the safe side. Whats the deal with the PR8 or P8R heads Ive been hearing about? Ive read that they are better flowing, but is it a big gain you get from them by swapping the heads?

The P8R head has VTEC-sized valves, but obviously without VTEC. I've been told less than 1% of B20Zs are equipped with this head, though I'm not at all certain how accurate that number could be.
The gains you'd result from swapping to that head would be negligible - I would dare say the S2 Pro-Series manifold and ported PR4-3 head on my B20B block flows more. Of course, while port size is directly reflecting on volumetric efficiency, that's not to say that port velocity doesn't play a part ... to an extent, the two can compensate for each other. A larger port can definitely flow more at a given velocity than a smaller port, however if flow is the constant, the variable becomes velocity - higher velocity is beneficial to combustion chamber filling and scavenging.
I think.
I'm no engine physics scientist, I just build them, blow them up, and build them again. Boost =
usdm97DC4 - I knew that engine bay shot looked familiar ... isn't it on Shue's website? I've browsed through there a few times looking for info on Marcus' EG.

Re: (DC4 Dave)
Hey guys, comment on the OBX top mount, everything is working great other than the wastegate flange wasnt braced from the factory so it got a small crack in it. Just got done welding it up today and went out and it makes a HUGE difference when you spool 500rpms faster. I went out tonite and punched it from 4k to 7k rpms and lit up the tires in 3rd (this is on 15" si's with BFG;s on 18psi of tire pressure). Next mods will be bigger intercooler, intake manifold, and drag radials. Then dyno
