Default Ported T72 Compressor Housing.......pics

Pics of my recently ported compressor housing on my T72.
Before

During the porting. After the debur but before the rock.

After being hit with the 400 grit.

And a pic of the mad scientist sr.

I really wonder if that will make a big difference..

I had a huge dent in my charge pipe coming off the compressor housing and it didn't affect 600whp, I couldn't notice any difference.

Im guessing this is before its been used so theres no baseline but lets us knwo how ir performs, it can't hurt anything.

as rough as the casting was inside the housing, this definitely cant hurt. I see no need for it to be rough in the housing as you are not considering any mixture there.

nice job, I have no idea if it helps either but I did the same thing to my 50 trim cover. I smoothed the inlet side as well as tapering and smoothing the outlet like you did.

This turbo makes great power but is just a little lazy, nothing a little nitrous wont cure. I had a couple people im me to do this for them, what is the normal charge for something like this?

Just got mine back from Speeddreamz today and it looks great. I will post some pics later tonight. Even if it doesnt make a hp difference it sure as hell is alot cleaner inside. I cannot believe some of these turbo companys ship these housings out so rough.

looks good. definitely cant hurt to port that... cant believe its shipped so rough (well, yea i can, lol)

now, when you say lazy... how lazy? ive been considering one of the t-seires for my 2liter b20/vtec build... i got to ride in a built mr2 that laid down 360 @ 15psi with one of the greddy t-66's... and after spanking a ferrari in it... i must say i was impressed

A greddy T67 is a 550 WHP max turbo. A T72 is an 850 WHP max turbo. A real T72 is just a pinch bigger. A great turbo that I can see being bandwagoned real quick is the PT71-GTQ. Sickly quick spool (Green said 15 psi @ 5700) and menacing top end.

is there something in between a t67 and a t72? I would really prefer a t3 turbine housing for sake of quicker spool, 80% of the driving is on the street, so a lazy turbo would kinda suck.

this is a full t4 t72 q trim. It gets going at about 6k on my 2.0l and pulls like hell up top.

There is a bunch of SFWD guys running the pt71gtq. I can think of three just off the top of my head. Like you said, it spools really quick and can lay down 880hp.

djdxm (jay) with the pt71gtq!

How much power are you looking for? I think a T3/T67 HO on a car with a 5-bar map that can push 35-40 psi would see close to, if not more than, 700 WHP. GT35R with T3 housings are already proven to 600 WHP and then some. An SC61 will make 600 WHP at 27-28 pounds of boost as well.

my goal is 500whp on pump gas... daily.
Since the car will be street driven, i want something that will start to spool around 4-4500. but full boost 5500. I dont want to have to push the turbo to astronomical pressrue ratios to acheive my desired power levels.

My main concern is the turbine side, too small and its choked off up top, too big and it spools too late. I had been leaning towards the sc61, with a t3 turbine, however, the car will see some track use with race fuel, and im afraid of pushing the sc61 past its limits

For 500 WHP on pump gas I would run a T3/T67 HO or maybe a bit bigger. Might want to think about meth injection to keep it on the safe side.

yea, ive been looking into the t3/t67's. as far as the meth injection, i had been thinking about mixing in some higher grade race fuel in with the 93 octane.. I just need to search through the vp catalog and find a good unleaded fuel, oxygenated fuel.. (dad with a wholesale account is teh ****)

i took a look at the PT71-GTQ and its major bank... for that much money id just get a bb turbo and have the best of both worlds, lol

If your Dad can get VP fuel cheap, have him get you a drum of VP Meth, and use that in the meth injection kit. Mixing race gas in with every tank kind of defeats the purpose of a pump gas car, because you can't just fill it up at any gas station.

dam glad u said that cuase all this time i thought with that, with the letters g and t i thought this pt71 was ball bearin. But these guys are sayin it spooks quick for a big turbo so though its not ball bearin im sure its almost as good as the ball bearin turbos
