Poll: Which Standalone..

Well, I was set on hondata... and now i'm not so sure...

I'm running/will be running an ls/t setup... 9.2:1 rolelrwaves, eagle rods, block guard, complete race head P&P, 3" exhaust, te/t04e turbo, tial 35mm, custom setup... I'm shotting for the low 300s in horse and near 250 in torque.

Basically, I want opinions. I was set on hondata, but now i see the greddy e-manage which has kick ass display options and connectibility to its other products such as the PROFEC E-01 Boost controller- and so on...

Then theres the haltek...
then theres aem....

there's NO local hondata tuners to me either- so thats a big issue swaying me away from hondata.

All opinions/comments much appreciated.
Thanks for voting... and helping me to not blow up http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmile.gif

i think a poll is a very poor way to choose a standalone.

I disagree. I think since he gave us his set up, and the conditions w/ no hondata tuners. I think there is enough information provided to be able to "choose" a standalone for him. After all, he didnt say, which is the best standalone, He just wanted everyones opinion after him sharing his setup and background....

Anyhow, I say go w/ the EMS and get a TechEdge Wideband o2 sensor, and do your own tuning.....Thats if you are up to it, and feel comfortable having the life of your motor in YOUR OWN HANDS....

all you're really getting with a poll is what the popular opinion on the forum is.

I'm going with the Apexi PowerFC but getting to the tuner would be difficult since there are no PowerFC tuners on the east coast.....B18BT in my case....I think there are no PowerFC tuners....I'm going to XS to get the thing tuned

I have a Haltech E6K, love it, works great. I recommend you look into the new Haltech E11 that was just released, but above all, get what whoever is tuning your car is most comfortable with.

no one has any thoughts on the e-manage? It seems to do a lot when you read the greddy site...almost has all the necessary features of the basic Hondata unit. Anyone?

Re: Poll: Which Standalone.. (vtecdoc)

perhaps I should have mentioned budget as well... Motec is out of the question- I can't afford it.
I'm looking to spend under $1500... but a little more I could live with.

"I" Will be the tuner it's looking like.... There's a few dyno's around- But I think I'd rather trust myself tuning it than someone who doesn't know dick about the software, or my car.

I have a laptop, and have seen hondata in action... 3 of my good friends work at honda dealerships... so I have some help as far as tuning goes. But again, I'm pretty much on my own on this.

I know, that 90% of this is a popularity contest then an actual best.... the poll really means nothing to me... I'm more looking at the comments, opinions on things... what people are actually using, not word of mouth.

WHY is AEM better than Hondata?
WHY is Haltek better than AEM?

things like that... thats what I'm trying to get at.

As for the guy who said why do i see this thread everyweek- sorry dude. You don't have to reply if you don't want... I'm just looking for opinions for MY setup- not for anyone elses.

Thanks for all the help so far- I hope to get some more info out of this...

Re: Poll: Which Standalone.. (delvtecsol)

just to put a little input on EMS. Today was the first time ive messed w/ the EMS. my buddy got it for his Civic, but like me, he is going to wait until he gets familar before he puts it in his car, so i stole it from him for the day, and threw it on my car since its stock. I have to say, within 5 minutes, I had the car running pretty decent with just minor modification from the basemap from aem's site. no hesitation, but i believe its running slightly rich, anyhow, after 5 minutes of use, the car runs decent, I was pretty impressed w/ the EMS so far. however there is so much more to learn, but it will have to wait until exams are over.

good reply...

Now, my question is, how does AEM deal with boost? will i still need a missing link?

Re: Poll: Which Standalone.. (delvtecsol)

I was just about to make a theread about greddy emanagent. It looks like it does just about every thing as a hondata, but I dont know much about both of these units. You can control injecotrs by 150 percent, change the timing, you can tune it your self with a laptop, control up to two extra injectors. Its only 300, I am not say hondata sucks because it doent, but just wana know the differences. And does any one have any personal experiences with the greddy, thanks.

Re: Poll: Which Standalone.. (delvtecsol)

I think its more or less what you are comfortable using or your tuner has the most knowledge in. For your set-up hondata will do what you need it to do at a good price. But if there are no hondata tuners in your area then move to something else. The safest way to go is egk haltech. when i say safest, I mean most dyno shops know how to tune the program.

One quick question for those who chose AEM. Why did Stephen papadakis go away from using thE AEM if it is so good?? Shit his biggest sponsor is AEM!!!
