PLX Devices M-500 Install Tip...signal spikes
When installing the PLX M-500, try grounding to the chasis rather than the ECU ground wire. The ECU ground wire gave me noise in my speed signals (RPM and MPH). This noise causes the software to misinterpret the pulse frequency and causes massive spikes in the signal.
I ended up grounding the ground wire to a bolt near the ECU.
I spent a great deal of time playing with the noise filtering capacitors provided by PLX. They didn't work. The only reason I was seeing noise was because I was using the ECU ground wire. Use a CHASIS GROUND - it should fix the problem.
So I figured I should share this for anyone who may experience the same problem.

i never installed my filter capcitors i just grounded it to a good ground to chassis. I have had no problems with odd readings yet.

Re: PLX Devices M-500 Install Tip...signal spikes (Treblarefils)
I have the M-300 with the capacitor going to the ecu ground. I have trouble with warm start-ups. The car just wants to die for the first 30 seconds or so of running. I also think my A/F readings should be more steady than they are. Anyone else with these problems? This happened only after I installed the wideband.

Interesting... I was going to install my PLX M300 this weekend.
I will follow the instructions but if I got some weird problem I will try to groung it direct to the chassis.

When you used a chassis ground for the plx ground wire, did you use the capacitor still? If you did use a capacitor still, did you run the capacitor from signal to the chassis ground or to the ecu ground?
