Default Planning to go turbo. Have questions

Just wondering how to break in a new turbo. I have heard different things, anything from running it at a constant boost to just normal driving. I tried to search but nothing specific came up for that.

Another question is about tuning. How hard is it to tune Hondata?

i know that you have to run oil through the turbo before you fire up the car.

you should tune yourself, period. Its not that hard to tune but if you dont know what you are doing then its mear impossible.

If you live near Southern California I can help you alot. Just PM.

Pre-lube the turbo, make sure your oil return is not backing up & your done.
Concerning tuning Hondata. Go to hondata.com there are some tutorials/writeups on hondata's website that describe some of the stuff you would need to know.

To really figure out what is what, you would have to simply do a lot of reading & field testing

yeah you can't just expect to read theories and learn. you also gotta do it, which is pretty much just reinforcing the statement mtber said. lol.

and there is something that i like to do to "prime the turbo". i take out the ECU fuse, and crank the car. it won't actually turn over but it'll get the oil through your turbo to lube it. that way, once it passes through, you can check the return line for any leaks and stuff.

hope i helped.

Whenever i've broken in a new turbo (i'm up to 3 now) i've just put oil in it during install once the drain side was done. After that, i let it idle for 10-15 min and drove it nicely for a while. After that i beat on it off and on....i dont think there's any specific break in procedure, but that works for me
