Default Pictures of my broken tranny

Well I broke the transmission on my Turbocharged Civic Si about 4 weeks ago.

At first I thought it was the differential. But after taking the transmission apart. My mechanic found out the diff. and the final drive were broken. I'm not sure which one broke first.

I bought an OBX LSD and found a used 4.26 LS final drive to replace the stock 4.40 one. I replaced all the bearings with new ones. I did not upgrade the clutch because it was still in great condition.

All in all it costed over 1000$ CAD to repair the damages.

Final Drive

Stock differential

Dammit!

I'll try to fix it. Give me a few minutes.

So...what caused it to fail?

It doesn't seem like your making enough power to kill it.

I have no idea. It started making strange noises after an acceleration on wet pavement. (Aka: no traction al all). It blew after a 1-2 shift.

The name thing happend to me in my GSR tranny!! (boosted B20 in a civic hatch)

Except my final drive was completly clean of teeth and the diff outter ring was missing several teeth. I'll post pics. Funny! because it happend to me 2-3 weeks ago. We both had bad luck the same way and around the same time. CRAZY

I'll post pics later

Mine started making noises after a hard night of raceing w/ friend haha. But it died on me by just doing a 3rd gear pull...

I guess the difference is I was not going as fast when mine broke. I was going ~30mph. While I am sure you were going well over 60mph.

When i blew up my diff on my b16 tranny, it still would drive, just the rpms would climb, but the car would slow down then lurch forward. And it looked alot worse than that, the only difference it that my final drive was mint. And the ring gear was good too, must have been lucky i guess.
