Default Pictures of my BMC race manifold....

Alright guys I got it in the mail today

Flange is completely smooth and straight, and the exhaust ports are ported for flow! very smooth ports

Wastegate placement looks odd, but very beneficial when i run the dumptube, which I could easily tie into the downpipe...

Can someone explain how this guy connect the flange to the piping? if you look, the welding looks seperate from the flange but they are somehow connected... interesting....

the t3 flange.... very nice

and my t3 60 trim turbo

Over all I am happy with the product, however bmcrace's business leaves little to be desired....
as long as you're patient, it was a very worthwhile purchase and I hope this encourages others to look at his products...

That manifold is garbage.

1) It was most likely welded from the inside of the head flange.

2)

Zero penetration. Do you see where the 2 pipes meet on the inside of the manifold? It's going to crack right there.

There is no reason that manifold is not going to hold up just fine.

i think it looks good, but yes maybe ther could have ben more penatrion on the welds, but then again maybe it dosent have to go all the way through to the other side, i dont know

after examining the area around the flange i figured it out...
he has the flanges machines with a bit sticking out of the flange and the tubes are welded to that... thats why it looks like its not connected to the flange

The CNC flange is tight.

The welds on the outside don't look too great. Is that MIG welded?

his orginal items posted, looked a lot better.

they are SS and TIG.. but the guy is young and i am sure still learning.. for the price 215-250, its not that bad, plus you get to keep AC.

Just see if you can take it somewhere and have it tested for leaks. Keep an eye on it and hope for the best

off topic..

how does this look?

Welding from the inside is how you're suppose to have it done. Welding from the outside of the flange is only suppose to be done in sections like 3/8" spaced out.

Depending on how thick the piping is, you don't need it to penetrate all the way through. People are still using 16ga stainless on there manis with no ill effects, I've seen 1000hp engines using 16ga. If this mani was made with schedule 10 tubing, he'd be fine, filler rod was used and that makes it hella strong

welding from the inside is correct if the flange is machined out big enough to fit the pipe inside. welding from the outside is for when the pipe butts up against the outside.

as far as penetration goes the whole sch 40 manifold kick is kinda funny. the material is way to thick for these applications it actually acts as a heat sink to the exhaust gas to dissapate through. penitration on that weld will be fine if you see filler on the other side with no shielding gas from not being backpurged then there will be some problems but these manis are thickenogh to still not have to worry.
thin walled piping ie 16ga is the way to go. although not as durable but when brace right they work fine are great sincre they heat soak quickly and then cannot absordb anymore heat which inturn sends more thermal energy to the turbine where it needs to be anyway.
just my 2 cents
