pic request: best location on oil pan to get return line fitting welded
im trying to get the best location on my oil pan for my return line does anyone have any pix they can ofer? when i searched i found pix of just return fittings. maybe someone here can help. thanx

there is really only one place....the highest spot on your oil pan, if you put it down where the oil level is in yur pan then it wont drain, so u have to get it up high as possible....it will be the driver side as close to the top as you can possible get it...thats the only place i have ever seen them placed....

right i figured that much but i was trying to figure out where on the oil pan. like i understand the as high up part but what about side? like centralized or closest to the driver side, or closest to teh passenger side that kind of thing.

It will be different for every application.
Best thing you can possibly do is mock up the manifold, turbo and downpipe on your motor. Then install the return line and mark the pan and go from there. Remember that your CHRA on the turbo will want to be straight up and down for best results, I believe Garret says no more then 30 degrees off that.

You definitely have to mount the manifold/turbo first. Then just mark a spot that's directly under the drain port, as high on the oil pan as possible. Easy.

That's an awesome pic Clone... thanks.
One thing though, if you've ever checked your oil level while your car is running, you know its not going to be at the top dot on the dipstick... more than 20mm below the bottom of the block is fine.

It really depends on where the turbo sits and how the downpipe is ran. I bolted everything up first, then marked the location...
