People who have owned TURBO AND ALL MOTOR cars, please come in.....
hey guys...well like so many before me, im at the point where I dont know whether to turbo my honda or go NA....I know that there are a million and one posts that have to do with this topic, but this is a little different. I only want to hear form people who have actually owned both NA and torbo cars, and have had extended experiences driving both of them.
Goal:
To have a low 12, high 11 second, fwd drag honda, that is also at home on public roads (to some extent), while keeping maintenance and repairs down to a minimum.
AGAIN, if you havent owned both TURBO and a heavily modded NA car, DO NOT RESPOND.
I'm hoping that people that have already been where I am right now, can help me make my decision. thank you in advance.

My daily driver right now is a 4-door with full interior, AC, power steering, a decent stereo, with a turbo stock sleeve B16 that is faster than my dad's C6 Z06. I had an EG hatch totally gutted with an 84.5mm B20/VTEC with BC4's, ported head, ITB's, the works, and it still wasn't as fast or as streetable as my turbo car is.
The turbo will likely break more **** though. Lighter car = easier on drivetrain parts, no discussion there. I do enjoy my turbo car more on a day-to-day basis though.
I guess I could elaborate more. The hatch was a ton of fun because it was so light and the throttle response was so great, but the Sedan is no slouch either. It's still quite light and handles well, but the straight line power is much greater. The hatch felt like gentle (but loud) acceleration like you might find in a factory higher end car, whereas the turbo car is a violent *** kicking slam you into your seat till your kidneys bleed feeling.

i have owned both, i love boost a lot more. The reason people say turbo is this and that is because they are cheap when it comes to quality parts, they wonder why their Ebay manifold has a crack or why the block has a crack. I have an EK check the signature. I have a gsr with itr pistons sc-61 turbo s300 the works stock block. And have no problems. Car is fast as **** and is a blast to drive on 6 psi. I would go all motor in a lighter eg or crx but ek is way to heavy and need to spend a lot of money push about 220whp all motor to hit 12s. Boost you can do that with a stock gsr on about 9-12 psi i did traps of 109 but never got a clean run to see whats it capable of but for sure its in the mid 12s with that trap. So have fun and BOOST AWAY.

Re: (Hcivic02)
relative to belief. i've own both. ive driven integras with 230 WHP 160 torque. people are sayin the throttle response is so great etcc. simply;. i think it depends on the chassis.
EF .. eg chassis. with no power anything all motor .. its cool .
4 door integras. full interior. AC etcc. gotta go boost. otherwise you're just slow.

Re: (Pythagoras)
Here is my theory behind it. When building whatever boost/NA, we all have a # goal to get whether it be power numbers or 1/4 mile times. While you go all out an an NA build, coming shy of said number won't be any easy fix other than spraying gas, swapping cams, valvesprings, and headwork is quite costly after you just finished a build whereas a boosted car is just a wastegate spring or boost controller, within a reasonable tune of course, from your desired number. I love NA cars, but unless I was just doing a mild build/bolt-ons I'd go boost again and again.

But look at all the 11 second cars in the all motor forum. Almost every single one of them is gutted to ****, and will only run into the 11's dumping the clutch at 7 grand on slicks, and squeek in with a ~110-112 MPH trap speed. I take somebodies car like jdms1eeper as a great example of a street turbo car, 11.50's @ 125 on 14" BFG drag radials with full interior on 93 octane. I like the pull of a 125MPH car on the street much better than the pull of a 112MPH car.

Re: (b16sedan)
I went from turbo to N/A, then to SC. I'd do N/A for a dedicated autox/road-course car in a <2000 pound stripped shell like a CRX, but for drag racing the turbo was much more fun. You can run 11's in a full-interior, pump-gas, air-conditioned car that is easy to daily drive.

Way cheaper. Potentially better gas mileage if you run low boost all the time and turn it up to race.

Re: (Synapse)
For your goals of high 11 or low 12 second 1/4 mile times you will want to go turbo. It's going to be cheaper and easier like a few others have said. It can be done N/A, but you will need a light *** car and built motor. 300whp should be no problem with a stock B-series vtec motor and it will be very reliable and streetable if tuned/built properly. Oh and for the record my car was N/A before I went turbo, so I have owned both.

You won't be able to put down 300whp anyways in 1st or 2nd gear, so a multi-staged boost controller or a simple switch to go from low to high boost will be necessry.

I have owned more than my share of both NA and turbo cars.
I will say if you want reliable (if you can be "gentle" sometimes) and an absolute blast to drive on the street and streetable as a stock car, stick with a turbo ride.
My car trapped 112 with a full interior, stereo system, AC, and every other creature comfort it came stock with plus some and didn't even break a sweat at 12 lbs. It's running normally at 16-7 lbs but that night was on a street tune with a new Map sensor and I wasn't trying to push it.
NA cars are great for AutoX and daily driving if you are more abusive and can't stay out of the throttle and have to beat it constantly but I wouldn't trade my turbo SI for anything as long as I can excercise a bit of restraint day to day to keep from killing it for no reason.

a turbo simply recycles wasted energy.. so there is very little downside other then cost and economy
with a High CR NA engine you are going to be running race fuel all the time. with the turbo setup you can run pump normally and flip the switch for race mode..

Gentle my ***! I pop the rev limiter everytime I drive my turbo car. Been going 2+ years strong.

haha
i think i literally hit the revlimiter about 30 times a night...
built a6, 20 psi.
i had a high compression dohc zc, with exospeed stage 3 cams and ITB's. it sucked ***. blew headgaskets, etc. wasnt that wonderfull.
