Default Oversized valves and still can't fit my **** into..

so, b18c1 t3/t4oe 8.5:1 pistions and buying valves... I've gotten SOO many recommendations about this

Intake - Exhaust
---------------------
+1mm +.5mm
+1mm +1mm
+.5mm +.5mm
+-0 +-0

WTF??? I need some good hard information about what's best to do? All the info I've gotten has seemed to make sence, but I'm still so confused...

Thanks - Dominic.

Go with stock for a street car. I've seen stock valve size heads make 600whp.

ok.. but I'm replacing them anyway because I don't want to burn a valve, sooo bigger is better right? plus I'm getting the ferrea valves of my choice for next to nothing....

When you burn a valve you burn a valve. Stock will work just fine. Its up to you to get your motor tuned right so you don't burn a valve. I have burned a Ferrea before. My car was not tuned and I was stupid. If you know the valves are fine then don't waste your money.

If you're replacing them anyway, just get stock size stainless valves. And bigger isn't always better. If you put oversize valves in there and don't have a competent porter change the area behind the seat, the bowl, and the short turn to compliment the bigger valves, then you will end up losing power.

its all about your setup. what you want to do with it.
is it a street car, race car?
are you going to REV high?
How big is your turbo?
you can go on and on.

it's going to be a powerfull street car I want to safely rev high, and run about 18-24 p.s.i I'm shooting for about 275hp, and it will be driven softly for the most part, but I want to be able to tap into the ponies when neccissary, but isn't that every tuners goal?

Also remember that bigger means more inertia. There is a cost associated with bigger valves.

More inertia? the valves I'm looking at are a lighter than stock valve, plus I think friction would be more of an issue, using stiffer valve springs and all.. plus it doesn't add to rotating mass so I don't think more inertia is going to abe a problem, right?

If they are larger and lighter, no harm done. Linear inertia can be bad too...what do you think causes valve float?

weak springs and a cam that's spinning around too fast and to narrow of a lobe? no?

Just use stock size, your going for 275hp? Come on stock valve size can support triple that amount.

If you are serious about buying valves talk to Earl and/or Flamenco-T.

Yes, the weak spring has a lot to do with it, but the cam spinning fast is really not what does it directly...the fast spinning cam makes the valve accelerate faster, and with a heavier [larger] valve with more inertia, you will reach valve float sooner.
