OT. . . . My new FI Toy
Like I said before I had ideas for another project after i got squared away with selling the R. Well now i got my new house, and settled in there. So I traded my bike for my new project.
91 Supra Turbo Targa top
Pretty mint condition for the year, i am told this it a rare color for the year too
Brand New Dunlop SP8k's
Lexus V8 AFM
HKS Metal Headgasket
Bosche BOV
HKS 3inch DP with no cats or resonators
3 inch mandrel piping with Dynomax muffler i think it is
Gauges
K&N FPIK
Not installed Yet: Turbo XS dual stage MBC, Blitz DD BOV
Only thing that sucks is i realized last night while doing a highway pull in 10degree weather that the clutch is shot. But im working on shopping for that as we speak.
And finally with my trademark

Yea ive been wanting one for a long time, But is hard as hell to find one in goods condition and doesnt blow headgaskets. Well i found one. I had to give up my GSXR and a few $$$ to get it. But i think it will be worth it.

I have a 240, but i gave up on it. Too easy. Too many people doing them. Ive wanted an MKIII forever now, but they are hard to find like this one
Plus why get something i need to swap when i have a motor that will do 500-700whp on a stock motor?

What's up fellow SupraForums member?
Nice find.
Targa+turbo+5-spd is rare in the first place...
That clean, in that color, is a good find indeed.
Now, get ready to spend much more quality time with her than you ever did with your Honda.
I mean that. Hondas are so damn reliable.

the guy who owned it also has
93.5 Supra hard top with t61 or somethnig on it , runs 11.1 on streets on stock fuel system
94 Supra Targa stock twins on it, super low mileage
93 RX7 TT
91 I think Posrche 951
87 or 84 300ZX Turbo, also mint
and this one of course. So he has a nice stable of cars.
The guy is an engineer at Stewart Warner gauges if anyone ever heard of them.
He's selling the posrche for $11k and the Z is a steal at $2500 obo for the condition

Re: (Dee)
Nice car, my friend just opened his shop in town and has 2 well now 1 of those. Both were targa tops and turbo'd. One was white "which was flipped when his younger brother flipped trying no to hit a deer RIP, but he is fine. And his other one is grey and isn't to bad. Stock turbo with custon D-pipe, exhuast, and other HKS parts/electronics. He is trying to get a new turbo for it though cause he blew his old one. I didn't realize how rare they were.
Where is a good place to get a turbo for these cars upgrades or stockers?

U wont make 700hp on the stock 7m for long, a 1jz or 2jz swap should be on your list of future mods. I used to do lots of research on supras when I was interested in them, and the 7m doesnt have a good reputation for reliabilty from what I have read.

Re: OT. . . . My new FI Toy (Boostage)
The 7M is pretty near bomb-proof, head gasket issue aside. They also have rod bearing issues from improper oil system maintenance.
A well taken care of 7M will hold a **** ton of HP, and a ridiculous amount of torque.
Seriously, these engines make so much torque, it really isn't funny.

Yea the 7m has its ups and downs. I was thinking JZ swap, but I think this motor can do some serious power. HG when tqed and metal will hold, ive heard rod bearing issues too, but prob maintanance ****.

Re: OT. . . . My new FI Toy (itr206)
I used to have an 89 5spd targa turbo w/ some light mods and I absolutely loved the car. The biggest issues are the head gaskets, never heard much of the bearing problems. The guy who ended up buying the car after me flipped it into a ditch . And as someone stated above, the torque on these motors is usually more impressive than the hp itself. Back when I owned mine (1991-1993) there really wasnt much competition from any other cars in the price range - the stock vettes/camaros/ t/a's/ mustangs of the era were all pretty slow in comparison, and the supra was imo a much nicer car on the inside with a much better ride.
Btw, hks used to make some pretty crazy upgrades/packages to bump the hp to impressive hp even by todays standards for these cars. Nice find and good luck!

Re: OT. . . . My new FI Toy (markaria)
ive been looking for upgrades from HKS and ****, but i think they discoed them? I dunno.
The car deff has potential.
On the slipping clutch and 13psi bleeding off to like 11psi on streets the guy i got it from went 13.3@106 or so. so with some better tires, more boost and a clutch i dont think 12's are a prob at all.
