Default OT- My father and I made this diy turbo kit for his miata!!

well my Father decided to turbo his miata, though wanted to go aginst the grain and decided to build his own diy style turbo kit!! ( flying miata is one of very few kits aval. and is very expensive 4k +!)

turbo is a t28 from silvia ( had rebuilt )
ss down pipe 2 1/2
hks cast man.
custom air water intercooler!!
igloo (cooler) in trunk
bipes ( boost retard device)
walbro 255lph fuel pump
cartech fpr fmu (nice piece)
100,000 miles + on motor and still runs great
~8-10psi
ACT hd clutch
and more.... cant remeber
it was very fun helping my dad build this, i guess he just got sick of me braging!! i am very impressed with outcome, and to think it was all for under $2k including clutch

kinda big pic, hopefully it does justice!!! anyways all i can say is prolly around 200whp and 200lbs tq in 2100 lb rear wheel drive drop top! its a rush and gives new meaning to "drifter"!! cant wait to take it to auto x, and my dad said he beat a ram air ws6 trans am? if only i could convince him to add standalone and a bigger turbo? its just a really fun car, hit the gas around a turn and it gets sideways, slame on gas off a light and it hooks up, awesome low end, once we get it on dyno or track i will post up numbers!! eric

Looks good. I think it'd be cooler if your old man had an aftermarket BOV that vented to the atmosphere though... He could blow off on Hondas and other cars all over the place and make us kids go, "What the hell?!"

THat's awesome, almost looks like a factory setup.

Do your dad a favor though and tell him to start using Wix or other good oil filter if he wants to see that odometer roll over into the 200 thousands. Fram is the worst!

I just think its cool to hear my dad and I built a turbo kit for His car...Ive always wanted to get my dad into my race car. I used to have a 12 sec daily driver. He drove it once and said it was like he was in starwars I bet your gonna want to borrow his car a little more often now.

the manifold is cast hks, (btw notice you have some killer manifolds ffgeoff, maybe you should make up a miata one being there is a growing market and very few options, my father had to use a t25 housing turbo so it would fit ) and to control fuel hes using a Cartech fmu-regulater thing, if you look in pic it is on passenger side, and its billet alum. looking! we had 12:1 vortech fmu and it ran like crap, it works awsome now, alot more factory!! keep comments suggestions coming, thanks, eric
