Default OT: GSX question.....maybe someone knows

My brother has an Eclipse and just started to upgrade it, ie;3" thermal turbo back, upper intercooler piping, type S BOV, manual BC. OK. Well he isnt the brightest of kids and runs 18psi on pump gas. Now all of the sudden his car is starting to sputter and seems like it is lossing power sometimes when at WOT. Do any of you guys have any suggestions as to what the problem might be? or maybe even some tests to do? Thanks, Evan

It's called fuel cut. At WOt he's running too rich and the ECU basically turns off the fuel supply. Set it to 14 psi (10 psi stock) and he'll be fine. 18 psi is fine for pump gas though, but at that boost his stock turbo is going to be maxed out and blowing hot air. My neigbor ran 22 psi on his daily driver on 93 octane and was fine, but he had the much larger 20 G turbo. Your bro has a lot of learning to do. Tell him to learn dsm.org, dsmtalk.com, and all the links off those 2 sites and he'll know how too build that car like it's supposed to.

it may be the fact that he launches the car every time he is at a light, and beats the hell out of it.

make sure maintence is done before being a madman.

my friends waterpump blew, but was replaced and luckily the timing replaced on time too. as there was a baby crack growing on it.
