 I think they did it with sampling on a sythesizer...like what they do with dog barks

I think it's real, man. Those engines rev to like 19,500 now. That is a huge window to make music.

Ever try to rev an engine and hold it at an exact spot like that. It can be done but how could they do it so quick and keep it at such an even rpm? I don't know that i really believe it....

If you've ever been to a CART race or an F1 race (Ive been to a CART and my buddy said they do the same at the F1's) before the race they hook the car up to a computer which runs it through a "program" to warm the engine up. no driver, nothing all computerized where they hit high throttle, low throttle, and it sounds just like it does in the beginning, BEFORE the song starts.
the song is merely a bunch of clips taken from different points in the rev band and strategically placed to create notes in the song.
the song is fake, the engine sounds are 100% real, ive heard em with my own ears.
hope that helps shed some light on it! (the cheering could be added in very easily at the end)

What is this crap?
Re: OT: Formula 1 engines can sing now (tony1)
i honestly believe they used the computer to program the rpms in the correct sequence and recorded the song straight through. i think there is a splice in the tape between the warm up and the song, but the song is continuous. you can hear the effects of the flywheel and accel/decel fuel being added in the transitions. well, some of them anyway.

However they did it, it is damn cool.
About it changing RPMs so fast, yeah...that is totally doable an a very high compression, high revving engine.
Some of the reed and rotary karts that I've driven spin to 22,000 rpm+ down the straightaways. I've had my foot on the gas pedal while the engine was started and you can zing that baby to the moon almost instantly when there is no load on the motor and you have a very very light flywheel.
It's probably in neutral and under the complete control of a computer. F1 technology is amazing. If it weren't for the rules, the cars could probably drive themselves now.

The engine was programmed to play those "notes". It was told how they did that on the site from the original link.
That was bad-***!
