Mine is sitting on my garage floor now. It's approximately 23 inches high starting at the oil pan to the top of the valve cover. It's approx 27 inches wide from the end of the distributer to the driver's side motor mount.
You might be able to get it farther in if you fold the seats down.
The hatch won't close if it's in the "trunk part" It's pretty high. Maybe if you get rid of the spare tire. Just be careful, I dunno how the heck you're gonna get it in there, it's heavy as hell.
Good luck.

I put my entire B18C1 long block including Skunk2 IM into the back of my girl's EK. Had to remove the spare....and cushin the bottom so it didn't move too much. I've also seen people remove their front passenger seat and transport their longblocks that way. Just gotta tie it down. In any case it'll work....took 3 people to lift the ****** into the trunk and a cherry picker to remove it.

yeah, oil and coolant will be drained out
damn...thanks for the measurement, I was planning to take out the spare tire and locate is somewhere else....
so you think with no spare tire, it'll fit ?, supposedly if I took out the trunk lid and folde the rear seat down ?

It will fit, but its heavy as hell , since your pikcing up the long block. The short block itself is probably like 150-180 lbs. Two people can lift it into the car pretty easily.
If possible, remove the head and put the head on the passenger seat and the block in the back.

the best way to do it is to put the motor in the passenger side, with the seat removed.

GO RENT A TRUCK MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my area Budget is renting Ford Rangers for $19.95 a day, unlimited mileage. I am not sure if that price is the same in TX but it is a special Budget is running nationwide. For the $20-50 it costs to rent a pickup you will save yourself a ton of trouble. Plus, I don't know how I would feel about putting a dirty *** engine my my car. It cannot be safe, it will almost undoubtedly ruin something and you will truely look like an idiot to whoever passes you on the 4 hr trip home
Good luck though, I am looking for a LS longblock too. I plan on building whatever i buy and saving my stocker with its 18K miles just in case I blow something.
