Optimal HP/TQ for FF street use, street tires etc.
Does anybody have an opinion on optimal horsepower for street use with street tires on a Fwd car?

Depends on what gear ratios you have. The LS tranny will give you better traction at the expense of better acceleration. Longer gears dont mulitiply the torque as much as shorter gears (high numerical value), therefore dont put down as much torque giving more traction.
I'd say that even 300whp is the limit of streetability. If you are running 4.78:1 final drive itr tranny, then even 250whp would be the limit of streetability. Also depends on how you drive, your clutch, etc.
Shoot for 300whp and you'll be smoking pretty much everything on the street.

its all relative to what kinda street tires u r on. on nitto 450's I cant even luanch on 5psi, but on BFG's I luanch at 13psi w/ out too much trouble.

yea, i push 326 and ****, i don't remember what traction looks like. I'm running on the nittor 450's, i guess that doesn't help much. 300+ out of civic will definitely dominate the streets if that's what your looking for.

Ha! that's good to know I have Nittos right now. I wish I never bought 'em.
I was really curious about street use to justify my sohc build up. I'm looking for around 225hp at the wheels w/ a DX tranny.

I have found that 943.8569 hp is optimum.

With good street tires (not BFG's), and a longass G3 LS tranny, the limit is probably 250 TQ
and HP can be 943.8569 or more. It doesnt matter torque oWnZ!

Power is all relative to boost. If you don't have traction in low gears turn down the boost. You should be able to hook up with 450whp in fourth gear. Multi stage boost control, mandatory in high hp street cars. It's really the only way to do it. Physics are against you from the beginning and you will never be able to use 350hp in first gear in a street car.

Back when I made 334whp my 555r's would hook in the top of second. My favorite all around tires are the S03's with the azenis in a close second. Since I drive my car on high boost everyday I've got to try alot of different tires this year.

Shoot for 300whp and you'll be smoking pretty much everything on the street.
