While it's not fully built but a piston /rod engine, it will handle that power goal with the appropriate turbo and tuning. Not going to get there all motor.

re: Opinions needed: B20VTEC turbo -350who street purpose

Id it depends on tuner for the sleeves to stay alive id do at least supertech valve springs and retainers.
If you want 350 whp the B16 head is useless. Id spend that money on a css block.

I am legitimately petrified of cracking a sleeve but there’s no room in my budget for sleeves

That 200-300-400 usd for a head thats useless for 350whp on a 2 liter engine could be spend here since he wants to invest in forged internals:

Look at the picture above. CSS is a support system for the sleeves. It will reduce the danger of cracking the b20 sleeved by like 90%
Dont go above 400 to the crank and youre golden. Trust me its much better spend money from a vtec head/blockguard on a 2liter engine with 350whp target.
If you dont allready have the pistons get these:

They hold 400hp easy. People hit 500 whp on them so 350 whp will be very safe.

I think what bolar is saying is you don't need to have a vtec head to hit 350hp. A nonvtec head will do that with no problem with the correct turbo. Spend the money on the block you would for a vtec head and still hit your goal and have a safe block to crank it up and make more power safe.

everything I listed is what I have already purchased and the block is already machined and everything I got the head brand new from a extreamly reputable machine shop for a STEAL ( my boss is good friends with the machine shop owner) as I do understand I could make this power with the b20 head but I only bought the b20 as a shortblock with the intentions of leaving it stock but I wanted to insure my reliability so I bought some stuff and my machinist recommended to clean the cylinders up with the .5 over bore so everything is ready to go I’m assembling tommorrow I’ve seen that you have done a higher comp setup similar to mine on stock sleeves at like 400ish right

if the engine is put together properly, good fuel with a good conservative tune will give you that hp easy and safely.

re: Opinions needed: B20VTEC turbo -350who street purpose

Sleeves are too thin IMO for 300+WHP reliably, unless your tune and other supporting components are spot-on.

The block guard will likely hurt more than it helps. Did you get the guard properly pressed & welded in? Did you get the sleeves bored and block decked after the guard was installed?

My .02 cents is that it sounds like you don't have enough money to put together a reliable turbo build, and I think with the sleeves and block guard the way they are on that short block it's already been eliminated as a good candidate for a turbo base.

It would have been nice if you made this thread before getting these things built/purchased.

hey man i went that route. it didnt work out that well. save your money and dont do it. if you must, then do it right. you dont need css. you dont need inferior chinese pistons.

becareful there is a dumb ass mod that might move your thread to the na section

You gotta relax a little. This is an FI topic, and had started as such. It won't move from this point as it's already been stated what the off-road of this car is to be.

Many of us mods are moving items to different sections based upon effiicacy of hea topic and ease of search for others to view, even by outside search engines. No harm is intended, and no one is getting paid to do this.

I'm not sure if Jeremy has an 84.5mm bore though, or if they're using a block guard (they may have mentioned this, I know it has forged internals but don't remember that part). With his build too though, sleeves are the first suspect.
