Opinions on AMSOIL oils?
My neighbor that has an 800hp built Grand National gave me some amsoil series 2000 20w50 severe duty oil to try in my sr20 a few years back and I absolutely loved it.
I just found an old bottle and started searching on it... apparently they have stopped making series 2000 and replaced it with Dominator 15w50.. as I'm about to have my turbo ls/vtec build wrapped up I was debating on using this oil...
Quick amsoil specs
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/rd50.aspx
Heres the Blackstone breakdown of a new oil sample
I am looking for a high ZDDP oil and this fits the bill perfectly plus I have a local dealer..
Given the viscosity increase over a comperable 10w30 that I used to run in my s13 I saw a negligible difference in oil pressure
Thoughts?

Right now its a stock bottom end until I decide to build my spare block.
I just found they make it in a 10w30 which would probably be more suited to stock clearances

Re: Opinions on AMSOIL oils?
Its good oil but expensive i change my oil to frequently so i never use it.
Personally i use Valvoline VR-1, Castrol GTX. I use Syntec on my TL since i dont change it so often
I always add a bottle of this to my oil changes since zinc was regualted on most oils. It might be worth for you looking into. I always use 10w-30 as well

I like rotella t6... I use it exclusively in my 1 ton gas and diesel vehicles (15w40 iirc)but no one around me has the full synthetic
Cost doesn't really matter... you should see how many royal purple cases we have stowed away for the z06 lol... I'll pay extra for a superior product I know will protect my drivetrain

Re: Opinions on AMSOIL oils?
I've heard good things about that oil as well... only issue for me is there is no local avalability so i would probably have to order it a case at a time (potentially cost prohibitive)
The plus with amsoil and royal purple is that there's a stocking dealer for both literally down the street from my house.
I'll pull a lot of specs/analysis for the various oils I am considering and go from there
Oh Mac, finally got internet in the new house... we need to have an aim chat lol

Brad Penn is everywhere, and actually is cheaper in bulk than it is at a "store" plus no tax.
We'll AIM later.
