Default opinions and advice. building b16.

im planninng on rebuilding my b16a. number i want to achieve is 500 - 600 on race gas.

i currently have JE 8:1 with eagle rods. stock crank and sleeves with a stock b16 head. Precision SC50 running on wastegate spring set at roughly 10 psi.

i was wondering what would be the next safe upgrade i should go with to get as close as i can to that number.
i was debating between building head or sleeving block and increasing boost?
once again thanks in advance for all the help.

forgot to mention. fuel delivery is all stock too. . tuned with hondata s300.

Sleeve that block if you want to make 500-600 hp. I would also def. upgrade that turbo because (correct me if I'm wrong) that SC50 won't make that much power. Also I would upgrade the fuel pump and get a higher revving valve train and some nice cams.

I would definately sleeve it, its the best insurance you will get for a high hp motor. Our ERL blocks have been tested past 1000whp we have blocks on the shelf ready to ship. I pm'd you with some information but feel free to pm back with any questions.

as far as the walbro 225hp is concerned.....i read on other threads and some said they had trouble running stock fuel filter with the high pressure pump compared to the low pressure?? and since i have a stock fuel delivery system ..you think it will be safe ?

On the fuel pump side I have had 4 car with a stock fuel filter and the Walbro 255 and have never ran into a problem. 3 high hp all motor cars and 1 550whp turbo car. You can get a Walbro 255 on ebay shipped 2 day air for $100. Well worth the money.

for a b16a we charge 850.00 for sleeving or you can buy a b18a/b for 950.00 shipped and do a lsvtec for even more power and our sleeves have been tested for over 1500hp 70 psi of boost with many of our pro front wheel drive and hot rod cars pm me if you would like more info

thinking bout just getting another block and keeping the setup i have just in case i blow something up. What would i want tho b18 or b16. Definitely sleeving it. i had JE pistons. worked fine for me. is there a specific better brand or they all the same. Also any special rods i should look into other than eagle. all help and advice is welcome.

basically im doing this build from scratch now. as far as head is concerned any ideas opinion on that. ive searched the threads and saw alot of people using skun2 and ferrera . what would be good for my setup.
thank you

Defiantely get a b18 block. For displacement means for power and torque. Sleeve it and run a 9:1 piston. Personally I like CP. As far as rods go i would look into manley, they can hold up to basically anything. Stock heads are fine if you are on a limited budget. But if not... skunk2, ferrea, supertech, along with many others are all great.

what are the odds of slapping a b16 head onto this newly built b18. i know ive seen several threads about it being done. but difficulty wise? how would you rate it.

Its pretty easy and straight forward. Just get a Ls/Vtec conversion kit (from GE) and follow the directions. There are many how to's on honda-tech here too that show how to do it.

If I was to do it over again I too would have probably went with an Ls/Vtec turbo over a straight b16 turbo that I have now....BUT I like that fact that the b16 has no torque. With the amount of torque people make on boosted Ls/Vtec's theres a lot of tire spinnage on the street unless you run drag radials all that time. My b16 doesn't spin the tires that much and you make up for the torque with the ability to rev the b16 to the moon. They take the abuse due to their almost perfect rod to stroke ratio. Just something to consider.

injectors if you want room to grow go with percision 880cc or 1000cc depending on what you plan to acheive if you looking for that 550 mark than 1000 if 500 or less 880s or 750s should do it for you let us know what you think you will be making soon, but if your really on a budget dsm 450s , i would never boost on stock injectors though so get something quick if you want that motor to last

****. ok so injectors are first priority then. im hoping to increase the hp as time goes and as depending on the bank account. but as of now i want something that will give me a lil room to play. if i were to buy some now id like to hit the 500 hp mark on pump gas.

also ive been researching and i read about resistor boxes and peak n hold and saturated. so which one is good for me ? oh and why ?lol

thankyou

i'd go with 88o's then you will have plenty of room to go and you won't have idle issuse that 1000cc's will give you, and as for resistor box you will need one more than likely most bigger injectors are peak and holds and they are cheaper than saturated injectors so that's my input, and pretty much any resistor box will work you can get one of the obd-0 hondas for starters, wiring is easy there's tons on this site just used the search function

nope.. spend a few days learning how to read compressor maps
it will do no good to have honda-tech hold your hand the whole way
although this is most likely what will happen regardless.
