OK big timming issue...4 use with s200b
might have seen this one b4 but ill try again.. i think im SOL...
well i have a h23 with an aftermarket flywheel. it does not have a timing mark. i need to know if there is any other way i can set my timing.. matt at hondata says u have to tell the hondata what degrees it set at.. i have no clue where its at.
EDIT
i was thinkin something like this
my friend has the same car i do..
take a timing light to his car set it at my desired degree. somehow mark the crankpulley
take off the crankpulley, put it on my car.. now looking at piece on the timting belt cover that is on both of our ludes i would move the distributer untill it matches like his did.. would that work.. then i just put on my crankpulley

I don't mean to add insult to injury, but wouldn't a flywheel cause you to shift more frequently and thus prevent you from staying in boost longer? My theory is our h23 has longer gears so you can stay in boost longer before having to shift. Am I missing something on this? Is it just driver preference or should I look into getting a new flywheel? I'm still a noob at this so help me out

the best way to do it would be to put the flywheel on and then find TDC of the compression stroke by measuring the piston. Then set your trans back on and make the mark where you want it to go. Jsut remember that the mark you make will be TDC and id mark the trans housing also so you know where its at cause its almost impossible to get it right on.

Try putting the stock flywheel on to set timing, then put the aftermaeket one on and market it where the timing mark on the stock one was. It should have been marked when it was put on.

really, it's very simple, all you do is manually rotate the motor til #1 comes to TDC. You can verify this by having a long screw driver down inside, just watch until it stops going up - that's TDC. Then just removed your access panel, read straight down the timing mark, and mark the flywheel. You'll then have to use a timing gun with a dial in order to set your timing. On the dial, you set it to whatever ign timing you want (16 for example) and when you have the dist at the correct position for your desired timing, the light will flash at TDC. Quite simple.

oh i knew i could mark it like that but i didnt think i would be able to figure out where the distributer was to begin with u know.. when i make a mark how do i know its at say 12 degrees and not 18... so your saying it willnot matter where the mark is right now if i use a snap on light with the degree dial?? that would kick ***
