oil squirters using forged pistons, how to seal the holes shut?...
i have the oil squirters removed currently on a block and since Arias pistons are being used i thought i would close up the oil holes instead of reinstalling the squirters. but i was wondering how the "pros" do this exactly. i figured that the forged pistons will provide enough oil so the squirters aren't needed any more.
what's the most reliable thing to do in order to tap these shut so that no oil leaks over time? a particular type of bolt and locktite in place of the squirter?
or should i just reinstall the oil squirters and just forget about blocking the holes off for good?
thanks for input on this.

I would think to just leave em in there. Sure you have forged pistons but why not have a little extra coolant/lubrication by keeping the squirters?

It doesn't make any sense why you would take them out. Their only helping your engine.

the reason for not reinstalling them would be for more oil pressure throughout the rest of the motor. they are all ready out of the block, which is needed to prep and rebuild it. i have talked to some pros who build their own motors for turbo and this is what they recommended to do for the above reason primarily. that is the reason why i asked about it again to see what they do to tap the hole shut.
i most likely will just reinstall the squirters when the block is reassembled.

we have some plugs for them if you want we also can weld them shut for you..
Price of the plugs at 1.85 each.
We remove them as well on all our race motors applications. Street driven is fine though.

yeah it will be a turbo street motor, but nothing too crazy like the ones you're used to building Viren.
i might as well just keep the squirters.
are the plugs you have very reliable? they torque down to the same spec etc?

I see windage being a factor in the reasoning for plugging them in a race motor as well. Reduce the mass of the rotating assembly by keeping unneeded oil off of it.

Ken,
With 11.2:1 compression, your going to want the extra cooling effect. Dont even worry about the 1 horsepower you'll lose by oil sticking to the reciprocating mass. Just put them back in and dont worry about it. If you really want to plug the holes, find the size and pitch, and just order the correct size from fastenal.

it looks like the easiest thing to do, and possibly the best thing to do, is just reinstall the oil squirters and leave it that way.
thanks for the input everyone.
