Oil pump shims & regulators for turbo oil feed
Someone posted they had a hook up for these shims....search just isn't finding it.
The Q's: What kind of shims are these, specifically, what size produces what extra pressure?
The 2nd: Anyone using an oil pressure regulator inline with the turbo oil feed to keep from blowing out the seals....or is this [blowing the seals] even a possibility?
Appreciate the comments.

Just go to the store and find .030-.050 stainless steel washer of the proper size. No thicker than .050

Re: Oil pump shims & regulators for turbo oil feed (earl)
Any guess on how much each washer raises the pressure?
Anyone got a suggestion for the regulator? Since earl (someone who I have pegged as knowing turbo stuff) answered, is that just a sign that there not needed.
But a side question: Do turbo's have a pressure rating for the oil seals....before they blowout....or am I hangin' off the wrong limb here.

Guess on pressure raise would be 10-15 lbs BUT that all depends on the condition of the clearances of your particular engine. The more pressure you add, the harder it is on the pump. Might be better served to buy a new pump or new gears for old pump. You never know at what pressure that turbo seal might start to leak, so be careful. No real easy answer to your question. Everybody's different.

I was in my pneunamics class yesterday, and I asked my teacher a good way to limit oil pressure at the turbo.
He suggested this. Running the -4an to the turbo, then before the turbo have a T, that goes to something like a 50psi check valve. The check valve then has a line that either runs to the oil pan, or to the oil return line.
When the pressure exceeded 50psi, or whatever the check valve bypass pressure was set at, some of the oil would be routed around the turbo, limiting the pressure to it.

I am guessing you don't find one with -4an fittings. But you can probably get some sort of adaptor. Next time I go to class I am going to ask if he knows anywhere to get one.

I heard some people weld up the inlet hole and then redrill it to a smaller size. Cheaper than changing lines and fittings.

What pumps are the shims needed for? I have a JDM ITR pump for my LSVtec, any need to shim?
Thanks
