Hello All,

I am going to be pulling my motor apart in the next few days to install new rods (I was running aftermarket pistons on stock rods for a while). My motor has 2500 miles on it since it was rebuilt. What Im debating is whether or not to reuse my oil pump crank seal and my rear main seal. They are very new and I figure since they are going back in the same groove they wear in the crank, they will seal fine again. Im just worried that if I get a new seal it may not set in the right spot and could leak a bit.

What do you all think? Thanks.

Oil pump will be fine, no need to replace that.

Seals are cheap, so get new ones.

Im not worried about my Oil pump or the price of seals. Im worried that replacing the seals may cause a leak by the wear ring not setting right.

I put all brand new seals in my build, put it in my car and broke it in, put it on the lift to change the oil and there was oil everywhere. Here my crank seal was leaking. Pulled it out, tapped a new one in, haven't had a single problem since.

It will seal just fine, Honda made them to be quick replacements.

See thats what I mean, you had all new seals that leaked, then you put in more new seals and it was fine. I know that the ones on now are properly aligned but im not sure if they are like one time use or something. I guess thats what im asking.

If its not leaking now, then I highly doubt it will leak in the near future. My crank seal leaked due to improper installation by my stupid self, so I put a new one in, making sure not to bend or pinch the seal and it is working perfectly.

just use new seals, if you are trying to save money at least do the rear main so you dont have to pull the tranny

If you only have 2500 miles the existing seals should be fine. I am **** and always replace seals though just for peace of mind.
