deep socket means that its able to fit the stud that thats on, as well as get to the bolt tahts its trying to take off they are usually about 2" long....if you're using a socket. but im pretty sure its a 23mm........

try 1" to 1 1/16", If you have clearance for the socket, it's pretty deep..
I use a crescent wrench to do it, actually get a small one, they works best

Re: oil pressure sending unit question...what size socket? (dustin)
The correct answer is 24mm or like the other posts 15/16. The oil sender itself is BSPT or british standard pipe threads. Autometer makes an adapter that has male BSPT and a female 1/8 pipe so you don't strip out the threads on your block with a 1/8 NPT gauge adapter.
