Default Oil Pressure Reading Help!!! Search in archived and no answers found

Electrical Oil Pressure Autometer Phantom Guage

Alright guys this guage was installed prior to the turbo installation and everything worked fine. i.e

25psi reading at idle 50 at partial and 75 at wot

after doing the turbo installation, adding 10w.30 oil instead of 5w30 and connecting all the oil feed line that I ran beforehand my oil pressure guage doesn;t seem to be working correctly any more.

at idle my reading is at 25psi which is normal but while at wot and partial throttle my oil pressure reading never gets pass the mark in between 25 and 50.

I've checked my wiring nithing is loose, also check the oil dipstick and level is 3/4 full.

Not having this oil pressure guage working right is making me paranoid because i've had an oil leak prior at the back of teh block and the oil pressure guage saved me from blowing my motor when it was n/a.

If any of you have any suggestions please help.

I've also tried cleaning the sending unit but still no luck.

Is vtec still hitting? If it is, then your oil pressure is prob ok and the gauge is bad. I would reference the gauge with a different one and see if it went bad. I have never had any luck with Autometer gauges.

go to your local parts store and buy a cheap mechanical gauge and hook it up to make sure it is the gauge.
